In your situation we would never transfer any more than 1embryo. It’s the safest option. Hopefully this will also allow you to have freezing of remaining embryos.

We transferred two and I was 30 yrs old with unexplained infertility. Had the embryos been ccs/pgs tested, they would have only allowed one to be transferred. Are yours going to be genetically tested?

The clinic I went to would only transfer one embryo unless you’re over 38. I had years of unexplained infertility and multiple miscarriages. We did the PGD/PGS testing. My first transfer ended in a chemical pregnancy. My second transfer was successful. I’m currently 24 weeks with a baby boy.

@ Kay8love, did the 2 embryos stick or one? Yes, we are planning to have them genetically tested, for about extra $3500 possibly and I think it will be worth it, having spent much already to even wanna do ivf. However, I have a 4 year old daughter so would love to shoot for a boy this time for family balancing.

Transferred 2, got Pregnant with twins but lost one. Gave birth to my perfect boy.

My dr will transfer 2 so long as you’re ok with twins.

My dr will only do one if it’s genetically tested to be healthy. He’ll do 2 if they aren’t. This is all for under 35. Idk what he’d do if I was over 35.

Most clinics will transfer two embryos if 36 and under and over 37 at least three plus due to changes in egg quality and possible other conditions...

When I had my fresh cycle two years ago we had two put back and only one stuck...

There’s no guarantee that two will stick but the odds are in your favor when you have two put back instead of one and the risk for multiples is low. So in essence the goal is to have at least one stick. In the end it’s your decision on how many you want to have transferred.

You also have to consider the cost of how much it costs to place back one embryo each time and not to mention meds and storage fees on top of that... However if you have insurance that carry’s the burden then this wouldn’t be an issue.

These REs are in the business to make money and also help struggling couples achieve their dream of becoming first time parents or build their families... If I were you I’d discuss your concerns further with your RE and if you can’t agree on two then I’d move on...

Back when we first started seeing an RE, we were diagnosed as being “unexplained “... there is no such thing as unexplained... we saw two UR and the second one discovered it was male factor. We continued with the first RE and did three IUIs. The first two were canceled due to my overstimulating on clomid and femara, we did a natural IUI and that failed. I had it with them due to them not figuring out the right dosage to place me on and with the natural IUI they did an US two days before the IUI because the opk predicted ovulation early but then I noticed bleeding that night and thought I’d ovulated that same day... when I came in for the IUI they didn’t do another US and I said that’s it I’m done... we moved on and glad we did because the next RE figured out immediately the right dosage with two more IUIs before moving onto IVF.

Eventually you have to decide what’s in your best interest because it’s your time and it’s your pockets being emptied not there’s...

My doctor only transfers one because of the risk of a multiples pregnancy. He does however wave his fees until you have a transfer that sticks.

My doctor recommends one because it is the "safest" , however, there are many factors that can allow the doctor to transfer more than one such as embryo quality, age, other failed cycles etc.... With that being said , there are PLENTY of ladies on the app who had positive pregnancy after transferring one. The failures don't occur because you only transferred less than one but rather other reasons or just the fact that you are not Guaranteed 100% to get pregnant with Ivf . The embryo or embryos still have to implant on their own. If your doctor is strongly against it, maybe listen to him or her because you may not meet certain requirements and you really do still have a strong chance whether you transfer one or two. If it bothers you that much , find a doctor who is willing to transfer two . This may prolong your process because it seems like you're already getting started , but it's your money and your body and ultimately you can decide .
