A little back story, i wore a DD at age 14. I desperately wanted a reduction so i could wear cute bathing suits/ shirts and not be called names for being large chested. My doctor told me there would be a chance that i couldnt breastfeed should i ever choose to have kids. I always knew i wanted to be a mother so i didnt do it. I went on to have 3 kids and breastfed all 3 for 12+ months. I was 26 and husband and i decided we were done having kids. I was a 36E. I had a breast reduction and now wear a 34C. Now here i am at 29 pregnant again and scared that i wont be able to breastfeed. Ive done tons of google searches and many of them say i might have some milk production but not full. Others say none at all. Some women have done it successfully. Have any moms here had a breast reduction and gone on to breastfeed successfully?

Although I cannot speak from experience, I can talk for my sister in law and same situation with her; she ended up wanted to breastfeed but could not. She tried for awhile week and unfortunately nothing was happening even with the pump or warm compressions. There are great benefits from breastfeeding so I hope all works out for you

Thank you. Thats what ive been reading. More unsuccessful stories than good out comes ? i keep hoping that since i breastfed 3 times my boobs will bust into mommy mode anyways but i know that isnt the case.

Search "breast implants" on bb, the top one there was a commenter who said she hasn't had any problems.
Eta: there's a couple about reductions as well

I don't have any "before hand help" but if you do end up with issues, there's a support group on facebook with other reduction women from around the world. Remember you can always combo feed, it may not be your preference but it's better than nothing! The group is under Low Supply Breastfeeding or IGT support group. Good luck to you

I'm getting a breast reduction after I'm done breastfeeding my last baby. I was a size 34D as a teenager and after 3 kids right now I'm a 36H however I'm currently pregnant with number 4 and after I'm done with this one I will be getting a reduction. It's hard to find bras and bathing suits which sucks so bad. Always have to order them online ?

I had my reduction last year after my son . I'm currently 31 weeks and my milk has come in. And I was also a DD since 14. Also I was a e and went down to B cup . And now I'm back at a c .

@jrf1994 if you dont mind me asking.. Did you have a free nipple graft done with your reduction?

I had a breast reduction in 2016 and after I got it done my breast was leaking milk and my dr. was shocked . Im going to breastfeed my son when he is born

I have a friend that just had a baby that had a breast reduction. She also wanted to breastfeed, but could not. She did make milk but not enough. She would only get about 2 oz of milk a day. I pray you'll be able to, but if not don't be to hard on yourself. Fed is best, you are bringing a beautiful baby into this world that will grow up and live a long healthy life either way❤️

Thank you @baildest for your response. The more research i do thats what im seeing. Not a full milk supply ? it is discouraging but you are right..fed is best.

I also had a breast reduction 15 years ago and I'm pregnant for the first time at 39 weeks. I am leaking very small amounts of colostrum if I squeeze my nipples but after talking to a few women that have had the surgery and breast fed after, I'm afraid they all said the same thing: they only produced around 2oz so they needed to supplement as well. I'm meeting with a lactation consultant this week to discuss options and chances of successfully breast feeding, so we'll see what she says!
