When I switched my sons car seat he did the same thing. I kept checking the seat to see if something was wrong with it. He stopped doing that after 2-3 car rides in it. I still don't know what caused it. Maybe not used to it?
I'm thinking he just isn't used to it but I've put him in it nearly every day since we got it and no luck. He used to love being in the car so I really hope he doesn't hate the seat and that its just a phase he's going through. I live in a small town too so everything is close thank god. But I still take hour long trips every once in a while.
Maybe, the seat isn't reclined enough? Is it behind a front seat, or in the middle? It may be uncomfortable, if your baby has to struggle to keep their head up. It might just be the picture? I don't think it's safe for them to be chin to chest, though.
It's well within range with the bubble and it's in the farthest position to recline. I think he just wants up and out because his head isn't falling forward he is lifting it forward. He has been trying to sit up lately and gets frustrated when he can't. He lays it back fine on the rare minute he isn't crying in it. Maybe if I actually recline it up he won't be trying so hard to sit up?
How old is he? My son went through a 2 week phase at around 6 months and 13 months when he hated his seat. He would full on go rigid, scream, cry, flail his arms. I pushed through it and he just stopped fighting it eventually. Those 2 week periods were hell!
No, I would leave it reclined how it needs to be. That's important for baby's safety. My son still lifts his head up in his seat. Maybe try giving him some toys?
My son still lifts his head forward in his seat and he's 8.5 months. He just wants to look around some. I'd say it's okay, mama. If you're not comfortable with him doing it, maybe get a mirror that you can attach to the headrest of the seat of the car so he can see himself?
I have a mirror he watches too lol. He was buckled in properly the recline just wasn't good. I didn't know it could recline more than what the positions were but after fiddling with it I got it reclined more apparently by the bubble. Haven't tried putting him in it yet since then but hopefully it'll be better.

Dd is 14 months and screams bloody murder every time she has to go in her car seat. Fortunately we live 10 min from everything.
Some kids just hate their car seat.

Is it okay for him to be able to lean his head forward like that though?

My sons seat has a line on the side of it that shows how reclined it should be. Does yours have that?

He's not buckled correctly and the seat is not At a proper recline that's the problem
