We sleep without the sheet. I don't even put it on the bed anymore since SO doesn't use it(gets too hot) and I can't stand feeling trapped. I can't sleep under a blanket with the other person on top of it...makes me claustrophobic. ?
We have a duvet each, i like to snuggle into mine with it over my head and off my legs. He likes to sleep half in half out so when we used to share it was a fight over comfort (I always lost). No extra sheet, never actually understood why people have a duvet AND sheet..

In the uk its common to just have a flat sheet and duvet. I use a flat sheet between me and the duvet. No point having a flat sheet if you're just going to lie on top of it. I'm from Australia so it's common to only have a sheet over you when it gets warm so I guess it's just habit to throw the duvet on top when you need something warmer. When I was a child, in winter, I'd have a flat sheet, blanket, duvet and bedspread. My mum didn't want us getting cold!

Why use two sheets if you're just going to sleep on both?
We sleep in between the sheets with the comforter on top. If DH gets too hot he kicks the comforter off and just used the flat sheet to cover himself.

The fitted sheet protects the mattress, and the flat sheet protects the comforter.
Your sleep between the two sheets, so you can keep the rest of the stuff clean. Because it's harder to wash the mattress and the comforter.

I sleep under duvet and flat sheet, on top of fitted (of course). I feel the flat sheet keeps all the heat in and I'm always cold so it's good for me.
