Mirena for birth control

Definitely not. I had the mirena for a year or so and it got Imbedded in Mty uterus and as soon as I had it removed I felt so free and able to move in ways I couldn't with it.

Only positive thing about it was the fact I had no periods when I had it.

But no I wouldn't really recommend it if you haven't had it before.

Nope! I highly do not recommend it. I had it and they almost couldn't find it. A friend had it and it was stuck in her she had to have surgery to remove it, it was a mess!!

I would not recommend it. It caused a miscarriage for me and I gained 30lbs. I also passed out all the time while it was in.

If you don't want anymore kids then yes I would recommend. As far as birth control it was great for me. I had for 3 years and didn't have a period the whole time. I took mine out to get pregnant with my second and it took me a year to get pregnant. It messed with my hormones and cycle so badly that it took me 6 months to get my period back and 8 months to start ovulating. I had an app with a fertility specialist when I found out I was pregnant

I had it for 3 years after my second child and it was ok, it helped to prevent me from becoming pregnant but once I got closer to the 3 year mark I began to have significant cramping all the time and it was very painful. I saw 4 doctors due to the pain and cramping but none of them knew where it was coming from so I ultimately made the decision to have it removed and almost instantly I felt better, no more pain and cramps. I did become pregnant with my 3rd child about 6 months after having it removed, and after giving birth to her I decided to give the Mirena another try, I had to wait 6 months because my menstrual cycle took forever to come on. Three weeks after having it put in, it just fell out and the following month I found out I was pregnant with baby #4 and I was told that it must have been placed incorrectly......I am a proud mommy but let's just say that I will be getting my tubes tied this time ????

YOU WILL NEVER KNOW UNLESS YOU GET IT. Doesn't matter what we say. Everyone's body is different. It is one of the most effective forms of BC and that's why doctors recommend it so much. .. but its up to your body . I'd say try it if you're looking not to get pregnant anytime soon. I had it for 5 years with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Zippo! No period. No cramping..nada. I loved it and will be getting it again. However,my friends didn't agree with her body and she had a lot of side effects. Its good to take a poll, but again, you can't really go by our experiences.

I had it for about 6 months and it went through my uterine lining and got embedded. I had to have surgery to get it cut out. We also have had 5 miscarriages after getting it removed with no answers as to why.

Big NO! I had it for 5 years it was a nightmare so painful and so many trips to E.R.

No! It embedded into my uterus after only 2 weeks of having it. Took surgery to get it out and caused a miscarriage my first pregnancy after it.

I would not recommend it. I had it over a year and it killed my sex drive and made me massively depressed. I always had weird symptoms and because it gives hormones out to make you think you are pregnant...guess what? you are emotional like you are newly pregnant. I actually cried when I found I was pregnant only because I went back to being that moody after three weeks of feeling AWESOME and having amazing sex after having my Mirena out (yes, I got pregnant within days of removal).

A lot of my friend have had problems with their mirena's. 4 of them had to get it surgically removed because of problems with it. I've also seen a lot of women having theirs surgically removed. I don't recommend it at all.

I had it for a year and hated it the ENTIRE time. Once I got it in I bled off and on for months. My hormones as my moods were all over the place. I was constantly fatigued and stomach sick all the time. I also couldn't lose the excess weight after baby number two and I'm a runner and worked out literally every day annnnd cut back on eating so I knew it wasn't normal. My doctor tried to say none of it was related but husband and I knew none of it started until I got it. Once I got it removed I started a period immediately and got sick on the way home. The next day I woke up went for an extreme run and literally started dropping pounds immediately and stopped being crazy.BUT I've got a friend that's had hers for two months and loves it. Everyone's body will handle it different. Prior to it I had never been on birth control and now never will be again.

Thank y'all. I know everyone handles it differently but it's still nice to see what people's experiences were. I think I'm going to just do the mini pill first to see how the hormones effect me because that was my main problem last time. If all goes well then maybe but the thought of it becoming embedded still worries me. ?

Best thing I ever had, will be having one again straight after my birth, no periods no pain. Conceived within 8 months. I'm a big fan everyone's bodies different it's the only thing that worked for me x

No! Had an ectopic pregnancy because it. I was rushed to ER with extreme pain and bleeding with no knowledge of being pregnant. Ended up losing one tube. When you have one ectopic you have higher chance for another. 2 years later I had another. Crazy!

Wouldn't recommend.. I got pregnant after 2 years of having it in. I miscarried at 13wks.

After hearing the NUMEROUS horror stories of mirena Id have a safer time just doing pull out method. I did pull out method and did not get pregnant for 5 years, thats the same chances as the mirena and less worry of having to get surgery if something goes wrong. XD

Or I'll try spermicide or female condoms this time around
