toddler bed How do you know when to make the switch from crib to a toddler/regular bed?

We switched my son into a twin bed at 21 months. We only switched him so we could use the crib for Rylee. He was fairly easy to transition though. I am in no rush to switch Rylee since she's not climbing out and still loves her crib . It's also so much easier to keep her contained when I need a quick minute!

I was told to start the transition at 18 months old by the doctor. He is doing great. We got him a new bed set and he was excited to sleep in them.

How Did you transition?

I just put her bed in there and layed her to sleep as normal. She got up and few times and I woukd just keep putting her back. After 3 or 4 days she learned to not get up just to go to sleep. It was very easy surprisingly.

My son kept climbing out of his crib so we put together his bed and let him play in it all day (it's a pirate ship) he was so thrilled but now (after about 3-4 months he is fighting sleeping but when he falls asleep he sleeps pretty much all night (if he wakes up when my SO goes to work at 5 he will crawl into bed with me for a few hours) and when he wakes up in the morning he stand in his door and says 'mom' (he stopped calling me mommy about 2 months ago) until I go to his door. Lol

Sounds like its not too bad of a transition!

We just got a toddler bed 3 weeks ago and she will take casual naps in it during the day, but they seem to be getting shorter each time. She won't sleep in it at night. Transitioning from co-sleeping to toddler bed is not as easy. She still wants to be under me.
