So has anyone gone through this. When my baby was born last spring, we signed up for her SS card. It never came. I called SS office many times, they were never concerned. We had to go up there, re- file and get the same number. . Well trying to submit our taxes, they denied it because someone has already claimed my baby as their dependent. I'm so mad right now. And have no idea what to do or what to expect. Ss office is closed now.

Well hopefully they investigate. It can be traced to whomever used the number on their tax return and hopefully they are charged. People can be awful!

My husband's was stolen last year at tax time. Took us 7 months to get everything straightened out. GOOD LUCK!

Not to worry you, but you should also have a credit check done for your child's ssn. the person that got the card could also have opened credit accounts using your baby's ssn. good luck getting everything straightened out.

We had to call a tax advocate and they helped get it fixed. Luckily they didn't try opening any accounts with it, they just tried to file taxes with the ssn. My husband had to prove who he was to the IRS. It was such a mess.

Yeah, we're doing everything and getting lifelock. I have a list of people to call tmw. But I think I can get the number changed due to a different reason, but I don't know if it'll help with this tax season this moment. Ugh.

Im going thru the same with my 5 year old.. she is working in a construction company and a stucco place.. pshh she better give me some money :P .. jk but its a hassle.. i filed identity theft with the FTC and i need to write a letter to all 3 of the credit companys requesting a credit lock meaning any line of credit trying to be opened needs to be approved by me first so id get a call requesting permission.. all because she is a minor I cant do it online :( i am going to file a police report after and best believe I'm pressing charges.. trying to ruin her credit before she even gets a chance to live :/ good luck with the process!

Mrz. Padzilla, I'm sorry you're going through this too! There's some sick people out there. I have a ton of calls to make and pack for vacation. I hope they bust these people good for tax fraud. It's not fair for our littles at all! We're probably going to do lifelock for our baby. Have you looked into it?!

It's insane..what a sick world. It's sad what people do.
I've already been on hold with IRS for 36 minutes and baby is quite fussy . Oy vey. Praying this gets resolved quickly. Ss office is of no help.
