What car seat do you have? Some require space between the baby car seat and actual car seat. So the front seat might end up pushed up some.

The side is perfectly safe, where you get the best install is the safest. Also keep in mind most car seats allow the infant handle in the upright position so they take up less room. I found a list on "car seats for the littles" website that shared what Seats take up the least amount of room.

Yes. They say middle is safest but I couldn't do middle in my car was too hard to get her in and out so I did back passenger side.

I have the urbini omni, and drive a ford focus. Any carseat in the middle seat makes both front seats way too far foreward. Both hubby and I are tall so in order to drive in a safe position, the passenger is the only place I can put her.

I have the urbini omni as well and we put the base behind the passengers seat. It makes it pretty hard for me to sit on the passenger seat but I figure I'll just be in the backseat with her every time we go out :)

That's what I have as well. You're good as long as it doesn't touch the front seat. Ours is installed behind the passenger seat with the seat belt. ☺️

Also you may already but the handle can be locked in carrying position on the urbini petal seat while you drive. Which takes up less room than having it back. My sons seat (5 years ago) the handle had to be back and it took up a lot of room.

That's exactly where ours is in my car. My middle didn't have a latch and I wasn't comfortable with using the belt. Hubby's car has his base in the middle.

I will have two in car seats... My newborn HAS to sit behind my seat. It's alright. Just the way it has to be. Everyone would prefer to have their baby in the middle, but if it's not possible there's really nothing you can do about it! ?

My kids will be in the middle row of my suv and it doesn't have a middle seat so you can walk back to the 3rd row so I can't put either of them in the middle. I just can't decide if I should put the baby behind the passenger or driver seat. My 3yo is behind passenger seat now.

Our edge doesn't have clips in the middle and the seat won't fit right with our daughters booster seat anyway. We will put our NB behind the passenger seat. Then the driver will be able to see baby and also statistically more accidents happen on the drivers side.

If you can't place the rear facing seat in the center of the back seat, the second safest place is behind the driver. The driver instinctively protects their side of the car during an accident. You do not want to place a baby behind the passenger just for the convenience of being able to see the baby. I would do more research if you are set on putting the car seat behind the passenger. It really is safer to put it behind the driver if you can not place it in the center. Also if you have latches, they are great to use with the car seat as well as the seat belt.

Linscarr you're not allowed to use latches and the seat belt. No car seats allow this. It's one or the other.

With my first the hospital would no let me leave because I was only using the latch system and the seat belt wasn't on the base. I told them it was one or the other but they kept arguing with me and had to put the seat belt on to. I was highly annoyed

Yea I was told the same thing that both had to be on there.

The instructions with the car seat even said to put both. I'll look into it

I was instructed one or the other. They said both were safe but a lot of people felt more comfortable with the latch. Also, they said it is not true about the driver side vs passengers side. If another car is going to t bone me it depends on the situation of the car. I'm not more likely to spin my car around to protect one side vs the other. It's all situational

When I went to my hospital tour Wednesday evening the nurse said that they all take a yearly class to be certified on car seat safety. She said the first thing they look for are of course the straps on baby (tightness, placement of chest clip, and no extra padding/covering) and then that only the seat belt OR latches are used. She said if they're both used and you get into an accident the different direction they'd all pull could cause the car seat to pull apart.
