Sooo I don't trust social media.. aka facebook. I have it only for keeping up with people. But I refuse to put my baby's pic up on fb due to the fact I don't trust the privacy and whatnot, so.i created this adorable shutterfly site that will allow me to post pictures and share with friends (and not lose the pics in case computer or phone crashes), but it's way safer and I own all copyrights to the pictures. Hubby just told me that MIL is ticked that I'm not gonna post pics to social media and thinks I'm crazy. Lol (no negative comments please. It's been a day). I just find it funny how in any situation, whether it's, I don't want my kid around cigarette smoke or on social media, im in the wrong. Ive made the website completely accessible so that my family, in laws included, can add pictures... just wanted to talk it out because I don't want to talk with hubby about how frustrating they have been, because he's heard enough of how they refuse to be in the same room as my family. I'm not complaining, but I needed to type it out so I could sleep.

What a great idea! I didn't know it was an option. I haven't had fb for about 3 years so that would be a great way to share pics with the family (of whom I rarely see). Thanks for that!

I love shutterfly and think it's great you're willing to share photos of your baby through a secure site. If your mil doesn't like that, then who cares? She'll either get over it or not see pictures.

I post very few pictures on facebook. I have an album that I add pictures to using Picasa and I have it synced to my Google Plus Account. so I can just add 'em to the folder on my PC then launch Picasso's and it uploads for me. I have the privacy set so that people can only see it if they have a link and I share that links with family and close friends only.
I actually just found out a week or so ago that my friend's brother was arrested for making and post child pornography online. I creeps me out that he was my fb friend, you can never be too careful.

I should look into ShutterFly, bc I'm soooo weird about posting my daughter (6yrs old) on Social Media, and I doubt if I will post this baby either. It really pisses my family off, but idc lol.

I can understand that it is an extra frustration to have to check another site...plus fb does help to document major life events. I love seeing baby photos on fb... but in the end it is your choice!

I also agree about not posting on facebook as anyone has access to the pictures and can download them. Shutterfly is great and I've also found a couple of other good apps which are specifically for sharing pictures of your family privately. They are 23snaps and lifecake.

That's such a great idea! I think that's the route I'll go also. I'm ok with one or two pictures on fb but wanted something more private for family and friends!

I don't have a FB account and most likely will not get one. It's amazing how you can get info about what's happening in people's lives without them actually telling you face to face. Too easy to stalk. That situation with the OP's brother's friend is frightening enough, but I'm mostly concerned with my personal privacy. Yes, we know all about "privacy settings," but FB is notorious for suddenly changing them to where you're briefly exposed.
The shared Shutterfly site is a great idea.

If you choose to set it so they can order, they can. But you could take that setting off. I have the setting on so mom can order pics for my grandpa. But I'm glad so many people agree with my stance on facebook. You just never know whose really watching too. If yall need help with shutterfly, let me know!

I deleted my facebook for a similar reason. My husband wasn't comfortable with me posting pics of our daughter. So I googled her name and my Facebook pictures came up in the images section on Google. Sent him over the edge. I use IG now and they don't do that. Also my mil posts pics of our daughter all the time and my husband hates it. He has told her time and again he doesn't want her on it.

Is instagram safer than facebook. I have instagram but figured they were similar? My dad works in IT and was telling me all the crazy stuff about fb and I was like nope, not my child. It's bad when they can do as they wish with your pictures.

There is a place called Blinkbuggy. It is basically an online baby book where you can make an account and put memories in it and you can give others access to it as well. It is pretty cool actually. The only down side is that you have to put the memory or milestone in when it happens because you can't go back in time on there. They also have an iPhone app but no android app yet.

My husband is in IT also which is one reason I got rid of my fb. He has fb but doesn't post anything, he just sees family and friends pics and posts to keep up with them.
