secondhand smoke... My husband has a grandma that is a chain smoker. That's totally fine but she does it in her own home…

Oh yes I had this issue with my ex's dad. I was pregnant and whenever we went round he was always smoking. I hate it Iv never been a smoker and being pregnant makes your body a lot more sensitive to things. It's your health, your baby and your body if you don't want to be breathing that in then don't. I refused to go round in the end. I still have an issue with it as sometimes my children come back smelling of smoke and I hate that their dad doesn't think it's a problem as his dad smokes in the porch way not the house. Don't let anyone say you're paranoid second hand smoke is just as harmful. I don't care if people choose to smoke but I think people that do should respect others that don't

Second hand smoke is bad even if your not pregnant. My mom smokes and I made it clear that I can't be around it. Not just when pregnant either. I find it hard to breath and I even get headaches. Stand firm and just dont let her smoke around you or don't go to her place. Print off some facts about secondhand smoke risks make them aware.

I got asthma now bc of secondhand smoke. Also & most importantly it is scientifically proven that for every cigarette you smell cuts off baby's oxygen a little bit until you get to a ventilated area. ? I hate smoke so had to do my research , especially when I got prego !

My mil and silver both are heavy smokers. My silly is very polite and doesn't smoke around me and try to air herself out if she has to have one. She's always worried about me being able to smell her and getting sick. She doesn't want our son or our new baby on the way to be exposed to it. My sil will even put on one of our shirts to keep our kids from getting smoke smell on them.

My mil is a whole other jar of trouble. She doesn't see anything wrong with chain smoking like she does. We haven't been into her home since I got pregnant with our son who's 2. Her house is like one big ash try. My husband reminds his mom when she visits to not smoke upto 2 hours before she visits and no smoking while she visits. She has to wash her hands before playing with our son or when she'll want to hold our new baby. Sometimes we have her put on a shirt of ours so the kids Don't smell after being on her lap.

It's your health and your baby. If you don't want to be around the smoke dont!! Your husband needs to stand up for you, it's his mother. It's his deal to tell her what's up.

Your the only person who can protect your unborn child from health risks. Do what you need to do!

Ciggie smoke give me headaches and make me sick now that I'm pregnant,thankfully I don't know anyone who smokes n it's very strict on no smoking laws here. But look at it this way your baby is being exposed to dirty 2nd hand smoke before its even born!you want to give the little one a fighting chance!don't Google the dangers of 2nd hand smoke and babies it's frightening as googling anything health related is but it can greatly increase chances if health problems such as asma ear n chest infections ect and worse!,I grew up with a chain smoking dad n had chest n ear problems as a kid but my dad didn't know any better in the 80s but now people should so shame on them!

I've never been able to be around smoke it bothers me so much. Especially now. For some reason my step dads friend is living with us right now and I told him if he's going to smoke he's going to do it outside and take a shower after he smokes because I don't wanna smell it in my house. My friends know not to smoke around me, I have no tolerance for it at all. You aren't being paranoid or overreacting, I'd be doing the same thing!

I posted something similar not too long ago. My MIL is a chain smoker and she's probably going to be watching baby when I go back to work. All my friends smoke as well. Just remember it's your baby and your rules. I am going to talk to everyone about it long before baby is born and remind people after. Someone recommended to have clean shirts around for smokers to put on before holding baby, make sure they pull hair back,and wash hands.

My mil chain smokes in her home. She agreed to stop smoking in the house a day before we visit to clear the air but really stops right before we get there. The house smells horrible and I get sick if we spend the night so we only do day trips now. It hurt her feeling when we told her we wouldn't stay at her house overnight after our first son was born but most people understand. Though I don't give a s*** what anyone thinks; it's mine and my child's health.
