My FET might be canceled
I had mentioned in a previous post that my Lupron was making me very depressed. I’ve been placed on Zoloft and felt that it was working. Then on Sunday I had a few glasses of wine and then took my Lupron I had a suicidal episode and ended up in the psych ER. I was released bc I’m under the care of a therapist and a psychiatrist. I saw my RE today and he said my endometrium and the blood flow to my interest was wonderful and he wished he saw more ultrasounds like mine. But he isn’t sure if it’s psychologically safe to continue with meds needed for my transfer. I’ve never had suicidal thoughts before starting Lupron and I feel like as long as I abstain from alcohol I will be safe.
The donor had extra genetic screening that we had to pay for bc on my genetic screwdriver we found out I’m a carrier for two genetic diseases.
It’s entirely possible that the other 8 are normal. It just makes me nervous, I originally thought we had 16 and to have 6 taken out right from the start was unsettling.
I’ve never had a miscarriage or been pregnant before.
Hmmm... what quality are the embryos? And yes, maybe you guys picked the abnormal ones to be tested. If the quality is low, anything less than a B grade is not good. And day 6 blasts are not as good as Day 5 blasts. If so, this is another reason to put in more than 1. Have you had an MCs with IVF before?
PCOS is definitely a factor that decreases chances.
I’m guessing that you guys don’t have male factor issues. The chances of a male having genetic issues is low, and they do genetic screening on the sperm donors. Do you know if the sperm has been successful with other couples in the past? Other than genetics, sperm is pretty straight forward. If it looks normal, has a healthy count and motility, you’re good.
@Brooklyn that is a high level of abnormals. I have a know genetic disorder called balanced translocation and 4 of my 8 were good. The interesting thing is that in order to be a donor, a person has to go through genetic testing. It may have been a fluke. Maybe you just ended up picking the abnormal ones and the other 8 are fine! Have you both gotten genetic testing? 1 in 400 people have a genetic disorder without even knowing it.
I’m 33 w/ PCOS. My wife, who is also 33 (no male factor issues lol) and I both did ER using the same sperm donor. We each got 8 day 5/6 embryos, so 16 total. For 5k our clinic would PGS test 8 so we sent 4 of hers and 4 of mine. We each only got 1 that is normal. So 6/8 were abnormal. We still have 8 more that we haven’t tested.
The high abnormal rate does make me wonder if there is an issue with the donor? Or maybe that rate isn’t that high?
If we only get to use 1 embryo I’ll carry hers first. If we were able to do 2 the plan was to put in hers and mine at the same time.
That’s good to hear.
But in terms of two embryos. Are you over 35? How many MCs have you had? What quality are your embryos? Do you also have male factor issues?
When you’re over 35 and have other factors working against you, it’s up to your RE to put more in. The higher chance of twins is offset by your other factors that decrease your chances. Sigh. On the other hand, if your embryos are excellent and you don’t have other issues, your chances are good! Did you get your embryos tested?
I saw my RE today and everything looks good and he’s willing to keep going. I’ve stopped the Lupron about 36hrs ago and I already feel more like myself. He is unwilling to put in two embryos despite my reasoning being that I NEVER want to be on these meds again and he’s said we can do a natural cycle the next time if this doesn’t work or for a second pregnancy. Thank you all for your support ❤️
It appears the Lupron has greatly impacted your serotonin levels and caused your depression. With any medication prescribed or otherwise it’s always recommended to never drink alcohol during use because it enhances it’s effects! Turmeric powder is a natural antidepressant and mood booster! I’m so sorry you’re going through this and hope they can get it under control or put you on something different so this doesn’t happen again. I just can’t understand how they let you go this long with this adverse side effect without intervening! My heat goes out to you! The most important thing right now is for you to get better. Hugs!
Hugs!! Sorry you're going through this . Share your feelings with your doctor and see if they believe alcohol triggered it. Since you are taking other meds it may be best to cut alcohol out just to be safe . Meanwhile listen to your doctor and psychiatrist and also try to deep breathe and focus on positive thoughts.
Glad you were able to move forward!
