PUPPY QUESTION/TIPS
I just got a puppy today and was wonder what did you do when your puppy woke up at night and started crying? Of course it hasn't happened yet but i want to see what others did/do. I have him in the garage in a open crate with a box of grass for him to hopefully use the restroom. I also have his water and food bowl full too. Other puppy advice for training, toys, etc are welcome. :)

I'd bring them in my bed as a kid/ teenager. They're still babies too. If you have kids in your bed or he's not doing good with the restroom, probably not a good idea.

Take them outside to pee and then put them back to bed

Take them outside and then put them back in the kennel.

If he wakes up you take him outside.
I REALLY hope your garage is air conditioned and/or heated.
I box of grass is not going to teach him to go outside. You need to actually take him out. He will probably just eat the grass then throw up. Then he will probably eat the throw up. And then throw up again. And repeat ?
You need to research how to take care of a puppy ASAP. Different breeds and ages may need different training. They’re just as needy as babies are, especially the first few weeks.

Also, dogs really should only eat once or twice per day. I’ve heard some people leaving food down for smaller breeds but I don’t think it’s recommended. It’ll be easier to housebreak too if you go to 1-2x a day.
During the night i also wouldn’t leave water down.

Ok so he's going to need to go out several times during the night.
I always had puppies in my bed as a kid. Couldn't do it now though bad enough to have kids in bed

I have 2 dogs and they didn’t wake up too much during the night. My one dog never did as a puppy. But my other one I would just take her out to potty and then put her back in her kennel or in my bed. It didn’t last too long. But I think it also depends on the breed.

Honestly, you have rethink this whole set up. I'm worried about your puppy roaming the garage because, like teething babies, they chew on things. Especially if they're stressed, and spending the night in a new place can be scary. There's lots of things in the garage a puppy shouldn't be chewing on. And since you're going to need to bring him in during unsafe temperatures, it's probably a good idea to get him used to sleeping in the house anyway.
He needs to be in a closed crate, and when he wakes up crying you've got to take him outside. Housetraining can't stop overnight, you need to be consistent. Dogs have an instinct not to relieve themselves where they sleep and eat, but if we teach them bad habits they'll override that instinct. Closing the crate makes that his space. He doesn't want to sleep with his own waste, so he'll learn to hold it and whine when he needs to go. That's when you come to get and take him outside so he learns that's where to go. Not the corner of the garage (which is probably what you're going to wake up to tomorrow).
Free feeding is also not recommended, especially not for puppies. You can't control what they eat and it makes housetraining tougher.

A puppy should not be left alone in a garage all night. It depends how old the puppy is but usually in the beginning they have to go out to pee every 2-3 hours during the night. Take him out and say go potty especially as soon as he starts. That way he associates the action with the command. Bring him back in and put him back in his crate or your bed but he should be sleeping close by. Puppies are used to being with their mom and litter mates. Having a puppy is exhausting in the beginning but it doesn't last all that long.

The puppy shouldn't be alone in the garage. Should be in a closed crate and when the puppy cries take them outside to potty.

In a small cage. Out to potty and then right back in the cage. Don't play or interact during the night so the puppy learns that is sleep time.
Look up "crate training".
