Water Birth in Hospitols?
Hello i am 19 years old and 29 weeks pregnant with my first boy. I was thinking of doing a natural birth in water in a hospitol instead of home just incase since i am high risk due to diabetes and have Rh Negative blood. I have heard some hospitols do have that but i am wondering if it is true and if so will insurance cover it? What is the positives of water birth compared to having it in a normal delivery room setting? Thank you for the help. -Kim

I had a hospital water birth with my last baby. You first need to find a hospital that offers water births, because not all do. If that hospital is covered by your particular insurance, then you're good. I would highly recommend a water birth. I had an epidural with my first baby, and I'd choose the natural water birth over that one any day. The water was a really effective pain reliever. I didn't think I was going to make it without an epidural this last time, but as soon as I got in the water, I was fine. It allowed me to float and relax in between contractions, and took so much pressure off my back. I barely felt the "ring of fire" burning and I didn't tear at all. Most importantly, my baby was born very calmly and peacefully, he didn't even cry, latched on right away and has been a very content and calm baby since birth. Hope you can experience a water birth!! :)

I would also look into if they make you get out of the water. I have been told that some places make you get out before you deliver. Something about toxins in the water but there is no scientific proof. Midwives are the ones who support your choice but if they work under a doctor they flexibilty is limited. This is my 3rd pregnancy but 1st home/waterbirth. Im super excited because of all the positives I hear on both the home and water birth. I wish you the best...just research and see what is best for you
