Sharing time Okay so a little back story:

I honestly did. I strongly believe it does take a village to raise a child. It was nice to have my family encourage me and help me when I felt I couldn't.

I was all for family holding my littles.

I got a little overwhelmed with the nieces and nephews going a little crazy wanting to hold my newborn (which I just couldn't let her go) but my sisters and parents, sure. It was so sweet to let them hold her.

Well, honestly you might feel differently after you have the baby with all the crazy post partum hormones. After I had DS I'd get sick to my stomach when all these people were taking turns holding him, I was so paranoid someone would drop him or get him sick. Post partum really kicked my ass, and I didn't even have ppd.

This time around I'll be asking people to wait a couple days to visit, and absolutely no hospital visits this time.

I was surprised at how much I didn't mind family holding my newborn. Of course I had rules in place, though.

With my first I thought that's what I wanted, looking back, I wish I'd had been alone. I was in a lot of pain and didn't get to shower for awhile and I was still getting use to breast feeding. With this one I don't think I'm going to tell anyone until I'm ready for visitors.

I didn't want anyone to hold my first born. I don't regret it one bit.

I had immediate family, mine and ds's, in to hold both my babes right after they were born. Sharing all the love was amazing to me.

Everyone held my baby after he was born. We are so close and everyone was excited. Also it was nice that when he cried someone wanted to hold him and calm him down i was so tired. ?

I didn't want anyone around the first week. I was recovering from a c-section and when they would come over they would all hang out in the living room. Made me not feel comfortable in my own home. I believe it would've been different if I didn't have a bad recovery experience.

I allowed a few close people to come to the hospital but it was for short periods of time and same for when we went home. I didn't care to share for the first few weeks, I wanted all the snuggles and love to myself, especially with my first.

My OB had a rule. First 24 hours only mom and dad should hold baby. Second day siblings and grandparents. Then as you feel comfortable with other family members. She said those first 48 hours were so important with limited passing around of the baby and that initial bond time with mom and dad, then siblings/grandparents. I mostly abided by her recommendations (my mom held by son, but she was also in the delivery room) and I'm glad I followed my OBs suggestions.

My family lives 9 hours from me. My husband had 2 weeks off work when DS was born and I just wanted it to be him and I with the new baby for the first two weeks.

When my husband went back to work my parents came out to see us for a few days. I was happy with this decision. It was nice to have some time to bond with the baby, establish breastfeeding, rest, etc. My husband took really good care of me so I didn't need my family here to help. I also had a tough delivery so extra time was good for us before visitors arrived. My husbands family lives near us and they popped in for a visit to meet DS a day or two after we had him but it was short and sweet.

And I should add that I'm very close to my family and had two aunts who flew in specifically for my kids' births.

I let everyone hold the baby my family and I are very close so I love that we all bonded with him immediately. Same thing with this baby anyone I know and love can hold him

I let everyone hold my baby that was vaccinated. I think it's nice to let people hold your baby, but don't be afraid to put your foot down if they're holding your little one too much. You're the mom and deserve to have the most snuggles with your newborn. Plus it's important to bond with your little one during those first few weeks.

I was ok with any family and friend visiting at thw hospital or home and totally ok with them holding baby as well.
