So I thought the 12 month iron/lead test was just a heel stick. Wyatt's Dr requires a facking vile of blood ? I postponed it to next Tuesday when he gets his stitches out but he had to get an actual blood draw at 9 months old and he HATED it. I'm totally not looking forward to this at all.

Every doctor must be different. Whenever my girls had the lead test it was just a finger poke for a little blood!

@Annie that is what I always thought. I've always heard it was just a small poke. Maybe it's the iron they need more for?

At our wic office they have a monitor that goes on the finger to test for lead and iron no more pokes or blood draws for my little one. Not sure how it works though

@mama my doctor does a finger poke and they said if the levels are off thats when they do an actual blood draw

I don’t understand why doctors test differently. Is it preference or necessity? My baby just had a little finger prick test and it was no big deal. A vial seems excessively.

I hated them for taking blood. It totally sucked!!! ??? and I feel like crying too with my LO. I so felt her pain through this post @Shay. As the PPs said, I wish there was a universal method. I like the scan idea that someone mentioned they do at WIC.

They did the scan with a finger poke too and her levels were perfect. I forgot what they neede a vial for. But it broke my heart ??? and of course her body was going to shock so it kept bleeding.

But after a good nights rest she just says she has boo-boos but they're okay.
