That sounds horrible! Your hospital should have a patient advocate you should be able to talk to.

That's terrible! My hospital has it to where you can order your food on the tv or tablet they provide. I would be very upset if I were you.

I'm planning on talking to someone in the am. I'm trying my best not to be that patient who constantly calls, but it's getting tiring. This is why I chose midwives. Their units are almost always better. They didn't even know my dang birth plan and I come here for my midwife appointments. Thank heavens my midwife got on shift /call she took over my delivery.

The regular unit sucks and I'm over it.

Oh my gosh I’d be pissed, I eat more than a bear after I give birth lol my husband always stays with me in the hospital until I’m discharged and if he ever tried to touch my tray I’d bite his head off.

Thankfully we’re having a home birth this time so we have our own fridge to pig out of.

I know you're a fellow twin cities mom so I was curious. I had a great stay at Woodwinds but I've heard some not so great things about a few others.

SO was here with dd1 but I could barely stay awake so he couldn't leave to get me food :(

They sure can push for skin to skin though even if I just did it, like let me rest since y'all don't even want to feed me.

@Kay I'm at hcmc. I heard nothing but good things. Mostly about the midwife side though.

See I heard not so great things about HCMC! That's a serious bummer though, I'm sorry you're having a difficult time there. ?? I go through the healtheast/fairview system. So woodwinds, st. Joe's ect.

I was allowed to order anytime and extra things too. It is ridiculous they aren't on top of that.

I wanted to do the mother baby center which is close to my house as well, but I felt safer having some family working here. I really wanted my midwife too, she knew how much I wanted natural and no cutting of any kind. It was hard to push 9lbs 14ozs but so worth it.

Oh mama I feel ya. I had my son all natural, no cutting, IV, anything and while he wasn't quite that big he was 9lbs 5 ozs and 22.5". Contractions were nothing to that ring of fire. ?

Mega props because I know what it's like!?? They did his blood sugars too because of his size. They were on top of the food though. I went with my family doctor because she's very handoff approach but the healtheast midwives were great too. I would love to have my next baby at mother baby center. The one in St. Paul.

No way! I had such a nice stay there. I had my son in 2016.

Next time send your SO to get food outside of the hospital! I always do and it's so much better and faster lol

I'm getting good food in the am lol. I let SO and DD1 go home for the night

well to be fair they had just opened in 2003 lol it was truly awful nurses were so mean and yelled at me like i was stupid after being there for 3 days in labor i think i know what works for me i was sent to a different area of hospital after he was born because they were too full never got birth cert or pics they didnt do post care after c section like they should have because those nurses didnt work in that area or know the routine

I think it can totally depend. I had my daughter at Abbott at their mother baby center. My labor nurses were amazing! And I loved that experience.

My postpartum experience was awful. I ended up having a csection and got to my room after recovery like 30mins before shift change and the nurse who was on literally ignored me, and the nurse who came on was totally incompetent. And no one ever went over anything post birth with me until 2 days later when I was asking questions for the 100th time. I had to ask 4x for my catheter to be removed and finally got the nursing manager involved. And then the nurse finally let me get up and while I’m standing and bleeding she just leaves the room to get my pain meds she forgot...

And then my daughter wasn’t latching well and I was in so much pain because of severe tongue tie. I begged for 2 days for the lactation consultant to come in. She finally showed up like 2 hours before I was being discharged and I was exclusively pumping because my nipples were bleeding and so badly damaged from the poor latch.

I don't live in the cities but I had my dd at st Mary's essentiaand had ds there. I had a decent experience with both. Frankly I just wish they would have sent in an lc when I asked for it because I never got to see one which is where our bf problems came from. I would complain if I were you. That's ridiculous

@pam, since this shift change and informing them of whats been going on, they've been pretty consistent. I got meds on time, lunch was on time and I got to choose my order.
