I experienced this with my first. I was told they were baby blues. I didn’t have any thoughts of harming my baby and I loved him so much, was bonding great with him. I just felt so sad all the time, I’d cry over everything and instead of sleeping I’d be up crying just watching my husband and baby sleep. I would never leave the house and rarely wanted to leave my room. It got better, I think it lasted 2-3weeks. I would suggest to go out, go for walks if you can. If you have any Mommy friends reach out to them. I luckily had my sister in law who delivered shortly after I did, so we became really close. Stay positive mamma you’ll get through this ?
I had PP Anxiety which led to a depression with my first almost 4 years ago. I felt like I was on autopilot, like I was doing things but didn't feel happiness. I was also scared of being alone. I felt like I was incompetent to take care of my baby. I would cry and feel guilty because I wanted to have my daughter, I prayed for her and she was my rainbow baby after a miscarriage. I beat myself up over not feeling the "mommy bliss" everyone talked about. I didn't feel like myself. I finally got help when she was 5 months.. It got worse before it got better for me partly because I took so long to get help and tell anyone about it. I suffered alone for so long before finally telling my SO. Definitely bring it up to your dr. Maybe seeing a therapist would help. And reach out for help, look for things you can go out and do like mom groups.
For me I didn't feel like myself until I started taking anti anxiety medication when my daughter was 8 months. I fought medication for so long but I finally started taking it when I got to a really low point. I stayed on the meds for a year and they were a life saver.
Reach out to others, your family, SO, your Dr. You don't have to suffer alone or be ashamed because so many women go through the same thing. Baby blues generally last 2 weeks but if you feel the symptoms for longer than 2w it could be PPD and you should talk to your dr.
I struggled with my first baby for the first few weeks. My doctor gave good advice that helped a lot: go outside every day even if it’s for a few minutes to feel the air and light on your face. Try to eat, rest when you can, if you have anyone that can watch the baby, take a couple hours once a week to go out. Just for groceries, or fill the car with gas, window shop, just be out in the world around other people. I felt like it resolved on its own without medication but some people need meds temporarily and that’s fine! You can still breast feed while taking them. Having babies is overwhelming even when everything goes fine.
I felt bad about taking time for myself but I had to keep telling myself: I’m a better mom and wife if I take care of myself!
Hugs! it feels like I'm going through this as well. My fiance works 12 hours a day 5 days a week. so it seems I'm doing this on my own. Me and him barley talk since hes either at work or at home preparing for another day at work. He comes home showers eats gets his snuggle time with baby an then hes down for bed. Oh and we're sleeping in seperate rooms to avoid dd waking him up all night so he'll be well rested. I feel so alone me and my sister who was pregnant with me had a fall out so we're not talking either. The only people I talk to are these ladies or my mom who will call every blue moon. Hang in there hunny you are deff not alone❤
✋? ? me. I rarely eat and I cry about everything. ? I struggle with depression anyways so this feeling isn't new to me but it's more intense with the crying episodes. Hope you feel better soon momma ?
I’m in Same boat as you! I just break down and cry and I’m very sensitive with hubby. He asks me why I’m crying and I just say I don’t know. I just tell him I’m not back to normal. I’m assuming it’s all the hormones becoming balanced after giving birth....I’ve had a mean migraine and I’ve read that is also caused by my hormones balancing out. I would also rather stay in the house and in my room. I love my daughter and have never thought about harming her either. And I just think this is normal, I’ve always been like this after I had all my kids...it resolves on it’s own so im guessing it’s just the baby blues.... just know you’re not alone mama! We’re all here if you need to talk and know a lot of us are going thru the same thing. Xoxo ?
After my 1st i never had issues with like thoughts of harm for my babh but basically wanted to murder my husband. My son was also very colicky and looking back now i think he had bad reflux too. He cried for months and i feel like i resented him for me feeling that way. Still makes me cry to think about. That was a tough year and my emotions caused me to miss a lot of joy. I wish i had the courage to ask for help instead of putting on a brave face.
Ur definitely not alone !! I’m emotional & I barely sleep I find myself getting 3-4 hrs of sleep a day no matter how tired I am. I also haven’t been out the house unless it’s for a doctors appointment my parents are a firm believer of staying home for a whole six weeks so I think that’s also driving me crazy ? I hope u feel better soon
Thank you for the support ladies. It’s nice to know I’m not alone and can easily discuss it and be understood.
I talked to my Dr today and she is going to see me again in two weeks. She thinks my hormones just need some more time going back to normal since my test results (paper PPD test) didn’t show that I was too anxious or depressed at the moment. It was nice to be able to talk to her about it.
My mom is taking my LO tomorrow so my DH and I can have a night out together since the baby. I think it will be helpful.❤️
