My hospital is the same, only siblings of the baby or children over 12.

My hospital won't let anyone under the age of 12 even if they are my own kids. Hopefully that will be lifted March 1st.

My hospital has limited visitors throughout the system to 18 and over and only 2 per patient. Then the obvious no one sick, etc.

It’s all based on CDC recommendations... the flu season is bad this year. Really bad. I work full-time in the hospital and I wouldn’t want my children anywhere near it. Hell, I don’t want to be there myself.

@jendz, yeah and that makes total sense, neither would I. I’m just confused on what they do if any mother’s literally don’t have anyone that can come take their kids at like 3am when they go into labor?

In my hospital they don’t, like, leave kids out on the corner or anything. If they’re here, they’re here, but they encourage moms to get someone ASAP to pick them up. Flu season or not, that isn’t really an ideal situation for kids in general when mom’s laboring and doesn’t necessarily have the capacity to care for them, either.

My hospital was really proactive about blasting all of this out to the community. They did Facebook posts, got it in the newspaper, on the news, posted info at hospital entrances and in the medical offices... they were trying very hard to not have it get to that point.

Well that’s good and makes more sense.

I was just in shock I was reading another post where a mom couldn’t feel movement from the baby anymore so she went to get checked at the hospital and the receptionist said she couldn’t be seen until someone came to pick up her two year old daughter.

That just seemed insane to me!

That’s what made me look up my hospitals stance on it.
