CUT or TEAR
I had a csection with son anf am pregnant again and got to thinking... Can i request that the dr not cut me down there and let me tear naturally? Which is better? Id like personal opinions instead of googles

I've never experienced cut or tearing but I was told by my doctor it's better to tear. Just talk to your dr about it.

Tearing will heal better and you'll have a better chance of not tearing in the same spit if you give birth again.

i tore pretty badly and let me tell you, id never want that again. stitches down there is so uncomfortable and it's not even like a clean cut. i was always told an episiotomy is better to have.

Tear naturally. On obgyn Is a surgeon and trained to cut, and in my poor cut too quickly because a straight line cut is easier to stitch than a tear. I had a hospital delivery and episiotamy with my first and it hurt so bad and took a long time to recover. Pads kept getting caught in the stitches. My second was a car baby and I didn't tear at all! Just skid mark burns they called it. I would let your body do what it was made to do and go with it. Don't risk a cut and stitches if you don't need them

Some people don't tear, so if you get cut, you're dealing with stitches, pain, and recovery that you may not have needed at all. Also, episiotomies make you MORE likely to tear. Think about tearing a piece of fabric, just grabbing it and trying to rip it. It's pretty hard to do, right? But if you cut that fabric, even a tiny snip, and then try to tear it, it's going to tear easily. Same thing with episiotomies. Also, like others have said, natural tears usually heal better.
I did request (demand) not to be cut. The doctor ended up having to use forceps to tweak my son into position, and even then he did not cut me. I had a very small tear, had a couple of stitches, and it never bothered me while healing. It's your body and you ABSOLUTELY have the right to tell them they cannot cut you.

I mean i thought about getting cut but i really feel like id rather just deal with a tear. However i get little tears when my hubby and i get busy, so im wondering if ill tear easily. Was just something i didnt think about too much last time.

I was told tearing heals better but that sometimes cutting is necessary if shoulders are stuck for longer than safely advised. Depends on your provider. Some prefer to cut becasue its easier to stitch closed.

I was cut with my first, it healed fine after about 2 weeks but was just uncomfortable mostly for me

I researched if they cut you it's more simple and easy to stitch up with a clean cut then a tear which might be worse
