What to do.. What to do??
I am 23 weeks pregnant and in a medical assistant program and still have a year to go. My husband and I recently separated and I need a job fast, but no one so far has been willing to hire me due to the fact, I'm pregnant. I was thinking about switching to an 11 week dental assistant program that is offered near by. I can finish before the baby is born and be able to go to work straight afterwards. My questions are...what do you think.. Should I switch? Is dental assisting a good starter field to get into? Any dental assistants out there? How do you like your job? How is the pay?

I'm a medical assistant and i have a friend who was in school with me who is also a dental assistant. The pay is the same.. But she HATED dental assisting lol. I personally don't know much about dental assisting, but you can do a lot with medical assisting.. I would stick with it.

Thanks. I also have a 9 year old, so I just know I need to do something fast. My husband has been focusing more on his new girlfriend than trying to help me and his kids out.. So I'm just panicking!

I agree with owl. There's so much more you can do as a MA. I wish I had gotten my certification. I finished school but never sat for them :-/

If u can do more than one thing with medical assistant I would stick with that as u will have more choice. If you did dental assistant and hated it that's all you have. You may have a longer struggle now but will be worth it in the end.good luck hun xx
