Birth control ~

After I had my second child (9mo ago) I was scheduled to get a IUD, but after researching and hearing people's horror stories I decided not to.

I was on the (paragurd) IUD the 10 year one... Horrible cramps the first 2 months ... Worse then labor contractions. After 8 months of having it placed in i became pregnant.. "It misplaced from my uterus" scary something just floating in my body! I was at a high risk for miscarriage.. 10 months & 4 days later i had a healthy baby!
I am now on the nuvaring for a week still don't know how i feel about it..

You have to be in tune with your body. Know when you are ovulating based in discharge and/or body temperature.

We were very effective with the fertility method. My cycle got disrupted after a vaginal surgery last year. It is the only reason that we got surprised by ds.

Good Luck!

@madam no i ended up canceling my appointment.

I'm leaning toward just keeping condoms and doing the fertility thing.

Does anyone have any tips on fertility awareness? Now really sure how that works

I had an IUD. It was ok. I could feel it when having sex and eventually it fell out. Otherwise it was great!

I think I'm going to go back on the pill this time. We will see. I need to research.

I just got nexplanon put in this morning. I like the thought of it because I don't have to think abt it. I've had Mirena & paragaurd but my body doesn't deal well with IUDs, I can't remember to take the pill, the patch made my entire body ache. I've never tried the depo or nuvaring. & I hate the feeling of condoms lol

The iud is hit or miss. I had it and have very little complications that I could easily work around. I know someone who had an iud and had to have it surgically removed. I don't remember the reason why but I do remember she had a lot of problems with the dr's over it.

I also got pregnant 2 months after having it removed to try for a baby.

If you stick with just using condoms, also use spermicide. I had nexplanon for almost three years after my first and I had gotten it taken out because we wanted to conceive again. After they inject it in (with a needle) your arm you don't have to worry about it for three years but can wait to change it for up to five. My periods were way irregular after getting on it; they were irregular beforehand, but soon they because every month.

Well no form of birth control is 100 percent I'd suggest doing two forms if you were really that against having more kids right now.

I had the implanon which is the insert in your arm and I didn't react well. Weight gain, couldn't lose with diet and exercise, horrid mood swings and very irregular periods. This was in 2011 idk if they've changed it since then

We have been successful with NFP. It's very effective if you research how to properly go about doing it. Using condoms and NFP is just as effective, if not more effective, than using other types of BC.

I had no major problems with my IUC. But I did developed ovarian cysts that went away when I took it out.

What about natural birth control?

What about the implant in your arm? I don't know much about it though I just know it's an option

I am one of those bad IUD experiences. But I won't tell someone not to get it, because it's one of the most reliable forms of long-term birth control out there, and as a birth control it worked great for me. I also react horribly to any other form of hormonal birth control, so my only problem with the Mirena is that it's marketed as a "gentler" dose of hormones, and for me that was completely false. I'm more angry about the fact my doctor insisted so little of the progesterone gets into your blood stream, and that is complete bull s*** . If you've never had major issues with these hormones before, there's a good chance Mirena would be fine for you as well. And if it's not? It CAN be removed!

I had my baby 18 months ago and still don't have a proper bc. I'm already overweight so those one I'm not interested in. I got pregnant on the Nuva Ring. My sister in laws iud fell out. My friend got pregnant on the iud. And another friends iud tore her ovary/uterus not sure but it required emergency surgery. She's now on the implanon. (Spelling?) which has worked for 3 years now.

When I was on BC I used DEPO. It was amazing for me!
