Weird things My son will be 2 in January and Iv been catching him pinching his hands in things.

It could be a phase or for attention. You never know with little ones that young. Just make sure you stop him and all him why he does it. Even if he don't talk well enough to give you an answer, tell him he don't want to hurt himself. My 2&1/2 year old do weird thing and he say he do them because he's bored. Like today he kept running into the wall and I'm like Malik stop you're going to hurt yourself and his response was in bored. So if he's the only child at home he's going to find things to do that sometimes won't make sense to you. My 6 year old used to do it now it's my 2 year old.

He's experimenting. He should stop doing it once he realizes it hurts every time. 2 year olds can be quirky.

My 1 1/2yr old will do stuff like that except, he'll like, try to smash his face against things (usually the couch) or hit the back of his head against things (again, usually the couch)...sometimes he'll do it to a wall just enough to get himself to make a face.... And usually, it's when he's throwing a fit about something or not getting his way....so, right there, the reasoning behind it is obvious. Tantrum.

Apparently, my husband used to do it when he was my son's age as well so it might b hereditary.

I usually just look at my boy and say y did u do that? Or, yeah, did that hurt?don't do that. I refuse to coddle when he's doing it intentionally. I just roll my eyes and walk away.

Seems to me like they're trying to get a reaction...the same reaction u would give if they had hurt themselves by accident which is hugs and love, etc.

He only does it enough for it to start to hurt then he says "owe" and laughs. He also tried to make me bite his fingers lol

I'm guessing he is just curious lol because he trys to get me to bite my own fingers

My 2 1/2 year old does similar things he'll hit something sometimes even his head and then tell me it hurts. I just tell him not to do it since it hurts. He's bitten his own fingers, jumped off things, fell down when I told him not to run, thrown himself ect. Its just him testing what hurts and what doesnt and what will mom do if I do this. Its normal, I definately stop him if he's in any way going to far or in real danger. Kids have to learn somehow, everything is trial and error with them

@genty Idt all of them do it bc I don't remember my first being like that at all. He was really laid back when he was little tho...My youngest is not..at all... Now tho, my oldest is a total dunce. Don't get me wrong, I love him with everything but I'm under no delusions of grandeur about my children and recognize their flaws for what they r. Most times, I feel like Red Foreman from That 70's Show when it comes to my oldest. Dumb*ss.

That's not too bad cause he knows when to stop. He's experimenting his pain levels lol. I agree it's a stage they go through. When my oldest was 2, he'd hit his head on the wall. My little now is 2 and he thinks he can fly or something lol, he jumps off from everywhere and he runs into things on purpose. It's funny and normal to me of course until they get hurt.
