D-MER awareness
D-MER or dysphoric milk ejection reflex is a strange phenomenon that happens to a small group of nursing mothers and is rarely known about and talked about even less. Have you ever felt depressed, angry, anxious, hopelessness, self loathing or felt physically ill during let down and after? Have you ever wondered why you felt this way? Maybe you thought there was something wrong with you? If any of this sounds familiar you probably have D-MER and your not alone, there is nothing wrong with you and there's a reason! There are currently no medical treatments for this condition, but knowing your not alone and that there is a reason you feel this way might give you some comfort.

I get mild nausea most of the time I breast feed but I can kind of "will" it away. Crazy!

Thanks for sharing. I've breastfed for many years and I hated ever second of it. I've never heard of this! Even after consultations and appointments with lactation consultants and Drs.
Is this a new discovery?

Not new! Just little known...especially in the US.

I had this while breastfeeding my daughter. It was always a "home sick" feeling when I would have a let down. It would go away in a few minutes.

I had this at times with my daughter. It mostly happened when she would play with my other nipple. It made me so anxious I felt like crying.

Seriously I have this! I thought it was strange, because when I had a strong let down with my daughter I would get angry and or want to scream and cry out of frustration. I thought I was crazy. This makes me feel so much better. I breastfed until dd was 16 mo and I plan on bfing this next baby.
