Help an I the only one

My baby can sit if I put him there but not push up. Now every time I put him in position he pushes to standing. How and why when he can't push himself to sit?

It would be considered advanced for a baby at this age to push themselves into a sitting position. It's typically done by a year old though so we have plenty of time before we need to worry about that.

I meant he does not push himself into a sitting position yet, my mistake.

My son will sit if placed in that position but does not push himself into a standing position yet. He does pull up to a standing position if I give him my two pointer fingers to help. Does not pull up on furniture yet, but I am in no rush for that. I do expect he will be crawling within the next 4-6 weeks. He is really scooting backwards and gets to his hands and knees and rocks back and forth.

My daughter can not yet get into a sitting position on her own...but can sit forever (lol) if placed sitting. She will try to pull herself to standing if she's close enough to something (or will butt scoot her way to) but doesn't yet have the strength to pull herself all the way up. My son (whose now almost 3) was between 8-9 months when he started being able to get into a sitting position on his own and was just over 9m when he could pull to standing. He crawled at 8.5months and walked at 12m.
