Any moms deal with thrush? What did you use to treat it and how long did it take to clear up?

I’ve never have delt with it but seen a lot of people that have. If you suspect you baby has thrush contract your doctor. I think they prescribe something to help treat the thrush.

@reevespartyof4, we have gone to the doctor and he gave oral meds to my baby but I have thrush on my nipples from breast feeding and they gave nothing to me. I’m reading it passes back and forth and sometimes the drops they gave me are not effective all the time so I just was wondering about others experiences

Are you breastfeeding? Call your child’s pedi you’ll need oral nystatin for them, then call your OB/midwife and they’ll give you cream for yourself. Even if you don’t have symptoms still get it for yourself or you’ll both pass it back and forth, which my daughter and I did even while we both were being treated. Its no fun

@mommytok, yes I am breastfeeding I got her nystatin and I have an appointment for myself this afternoon but I am concerned about passing it back and forth

My son and I passed thrush back and forth for about a year. We're both prone to yeast infections 😟. Just try and keep everything clean and dry as much as possible. If you're pumping, make sure to sanitize all the parts each time. Same thing if you use bottles for any feedings. I believe the site Kellymom has some good resources for dealing with thrush as well.

For myself, I had the nystatin cream that I could put on when symptoms would get really bad. But it does get annoying having to wipe it off before each feeding or pumping session and then reapplying after. However it was nice to have it because I didn't have to wait to see a doctor to fill my prescription. The tube has a lot of cream so it lasted through many outbreaks.

@samantharosecoco, thank you I hope it doesn’t last that long how horrible. She’s been doing her treatment for two days now I think it may be helping as I was able to to easily wipe off a chunk of the infection without her bleeding so maybe it’s dying off but they didn’t give me anything

@bebefever94, aww glad she's starting to get better! Yeah, it wasn't fun but it was pretty mild most of the time.
