Is there any specific reason why you’re wanting to refuse it? I did it with my daughter but I felt like I didn’t really have any other choice. I understand the point of it but you could maybe ask if there’s a different, healthier option for checking for gestational diabetes?
I did it and I'm glad I did! I had gestational diabetes and was told if i dont get my sugar levels under control, when bub is born their sugar levels dip right down as they don't have your placenta to live on anymore, that is over producing insulin and they have to stay in special care. It's really dangerous for their sugar levels to drop down too low. If no one has the test, you would be putting baby at risk because no one won't know if they have GD or not. I've heard there is a theory on the ingredients in the glucose drink, but it's a load of hoo-haa. Do your research before you consider declining, if you are, the risk of not doing it far out weighs the risk of just having it done.
Me, my mom said if I do blood work and everything comes back normal then I'm in the clear. I skipped it because everyone was saying it was sugary and making people through up and I can't stand even a little bit of sugary things, I'll get sick. I ended up having a perfectly healthy little girl and super easy delivery
Also I told my doctor I didn't want to do it, if I could do the other way which is doing the prick thing and keeping track and she was saying that I'd have to buy the equipment blah blah blah. But my mom already has one and I'd check mine all the time and it was normal so I didn't have a problem doing that instead. I don't know why doctors push the glucose test so hard over the other way
@scurlock.mommy it's not that I'm trying to get out of it. It's just I'm 26+4 weeks already and I'm waiting for Medicaid to see if I can get it since I'm not working anymore then usually it takes a few weeks to see a o.b because they don't have openings anytime soon.

I read online that instead of doing the test you can just monitor your levels as if you had it and see what happens.
