Has anyone done the early intervention program with a child looking for feedback ???

Following. I've been on a waiting l list for a year

My daughter has been involved with Early Intervention since she was 18 months old. She's about to age out of the program when she turns 3 in August.

, they just came and evaluated my son and I don’t understand I feel like such a bad mom right now they were coming for speech and they do other things with them and score him I don’t understand how people my son has never met and use toys that he has never seen in his home that he has all his stuff and think he is going to do everything they ask now mind you he is almost 2 and it was lunch time and nap time

@proudmomof2boyz i know exactly how you feel. I work hands on with my daughter. She does amazing at home and is progressing quickly.

She has social anxiety and won't talk much for those she doesn't know. She's waiting on speech therapy (ugh) to help her open up more. But kids just want to be kids and play. Not take tests.

Ok first off you're not a bad mom.

I know it's hard to have your child evaluated but the tests are designed to assess what help your son needs.

When I contacted EI my daughter wasn't walking she didn't even want to put weight on her feet. She also wasn't talking. She was given a Developmental Therapist (DT) a Physical Therapist (PT) and an Occupational Therapist (OT) my daughter also qualified for a Speech Therapist (ST) but there weren't any available in our area. So our DT mostly focused on speech. I'm so greatful for EI because we honestly wouldn't have been able to afford the services any other way.

Her therapists have become like family and I'm honestly sad that we won't see them any more after my daughter turns 3.

My daughter has come such a long way since EI came into our lives. She now walks and climbs and speaks. And will be starting preschool in August.

Have you tried teaching sign language?.. there's a great DVDseries called Signing Time. You can buy it on Amazon. My daughter and autistic nephew LOVE the videos.

The first sign my daughter learned to sign was "more" and with in a month "more" was her first spoken word. My daughter since then as learn so many signs, she has about a 200 word sign vocabulary. And I honestly believe that sign language jump started her spoken vocabulary as well.

I had my son evaluated when he was 18 months because I was worried he was falling behind and not understanding much at all. They came in, talked to him and played with him and watched how he responded to certain things and they determined he was on track just fine. After he turned 2 his learning and intelligence just took off and now I know he's doing just fine.

@ladyblauvelt.skysmomma, when they came there was things he could do and just didn’t want to do so they said he couldn’t do them I felt like if they watched him or just gave him time he would do it
