Please help ASAP my daughter was born early and stayed in the nicu for over 2 weeks today she turned purple a little and I had to blow in her face to get her to breath which of course is a Brady and she’s had a couple but only one serious like that should I take her straight to the er I called her doc and they said they couldn’t get her a appointment until next week it just scares me because at night if I’m sleeping and she does it I wouldn’t no
@nomli, I tried I have to switch it on her insurance first well co pay for now we still haven’t gotten the birth certificate or anything
That's ridiculous!!! My son's doctor has ALWAYS gotten him in that day, within an hour, (unless they were closed), and it's never been for turning purple. High fever or wheezing, and once they even got him in that day because we called saying he had been coughing all morning. Turning purple should be a "Yes, come right in or go to the ER" kind of thing.
I hope she's okay, and you got help. Maybe after this find a different pediatrician...
@mommyof3babies2016, they may not be able to see her back in the NICU bc she has left the hospital and having her in NICU could expose those babies to germs that she has already picked up. But the NICU staff will take you much more seriously than your pediatric office and help steer you in the right direction of getting your sweet babe seen today.
@northwoodsmomma, that’s what I was thinking she can get sick so easy and hospitals are germ filled the nicu isn’t really they clean constantly hand washing everything
@mommyof3babies2016, call NICU. You really don't want a preemie baby sitting in the ER. She could be exposed to all sorts of things there.
@northwoodsmomma, they said I can call the nicu but yes I’m mad they should have emergency openings every doctor office does for serious things but I think I’m just gonna take her to the er and is scared me more she was a preemie and what happens if that would have happened at night and I wasn’t awake to know I had to blow in her face to get her to breath ya kno ?
That's crazy that they couldn't get her in today. She's two weeks old and turning purple! We noticed a couple weeks ago that my son's (22 months) lips were randomly turning blue at times. Our ped got us in an hour and a half after I called. I demanded an ECG, ABG, CBC, full metabolic panel, and that we see a pediatric cardiologist. Can you call NICU directly? Or get in with a different pediatrician? That's pretty serious that you had to blow on her to get her to breathe.
I would take her to the er. If her lips and tongue turn purple it’s never good.
That's dumb, that you need the BC to switch doctors for a newborn. I think with our insurance we can see anyone so long as it's in network, and I can't remember how it worked with his BC. I do remember his doctor took him long before we got the insurance card. She just used mine.
