Why so early? Is baby ok?

@laniejay, baby is ok I have cholestasis. They induce at 37w when you have it

@drewannxo, at least your dr is staying on top of it. I had it and had an emergency induction at 38.4 weeks when it should’ve been earlier. The meds they were giving me were doing their job and keeping my levels steady but still over the mark. I went into SSH for a NST test and failed, the high risk dr there was not happy with my OB practice. Good luck with everything!

@chaos_coordinator, that’s awful! Was everything ok with baby? I was the one who was on top of it because I could tell I had it by my symptoms and they tested me but my levels were normal. It got worse and I begged them to test me again and my levels sky rocketed

I’m glad they’re on top of it. Not glad you have cholestasis. I see so many ladies on here who apparently have crazy doctors that induce early for no reason. Hopefully you have a smooth induction and mama and baby do well.

@drewannxo, he was fine for the most part, they monitored him over night in the nursery and then I got to keep him with me the rest of the time. We were there for 3 days. They heard a murmur at his last pedi visit but I’m assuming it’s not related. The induction went smoothly and fast, hopefully it does for you too. I know everyone has a different experience but if you want an epidural, don’t wait too long like I did! I made the same mistake with my last son too! This time, I went in at 3 cm and 70% effaced so I didn’t need the insert to soften my cervix which made things quicker, after a few hours of Pitocin I was 5 1/2 and 90%, my water broke 15-20 mins after they checked and the contractions started coming full blast right away and they couldn’t catch up with me, they actually had to turn the Pitocin off. And he was born about 30 mins after my water broke. I ended up feeling it all, second degree tear and stitches. He was sunny side up facing my placenta, which was anterior(front of my uterus), so the back of his head ripped me. But it only took 3 big pushes! Before I was actively laboring I walked the hall for 20-30 mins, and bounced on the peanut ball for 30 mins which helped a lot, it was so comfy! My labor and delivery took just under 7 hours, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed it’s fast and smooth for you!
