I know I sound like a bad friend

Oh dear. Is this the best friend dating the guy in the Navy and she moved to be with him? The one who wanted to take her into the woods and she sent you a text?!

I seriously just want to fly to Florida and get her. She admitted to me last night that he doesn’t respect her at all. Which I already knew.

I totally understand this. One of my best friends is recently separated from her husband. They had their daughter young and she grew up and he never really did. And then they got married and had their son. All the while he struggled with anger issues, and alcohol issues. She just deserved so much better and I’m so happy she’s finally realized it. I’m just trying to be there for her.

Where in FL is she?

He won’t let her have a say so in so many situations. He told her that after their baby is born that HE will put their daughter in daycare and she has to work or go to school. That she has no say in the matter.

-if the baby was a boy, he wanted him to have his name and it’s not up to her and he wouldn’t discuss it.

-let’s his brother get in her face without doing or saying anything to his brother.

-he chooses his brothers side in everything.

-it’s his way or no way.

Just so many more controlling things. And I know for a fact that she’s scared to voice her opinions.

I moved away from my partner worried he wouldn’t changed and I have to say he did till this weekend and went back to his old ways and I just lost it and said I wanted a break and he snapped back not sure if same situation she could be in we have a baby she changed him so did the move

He use to tell me what I was doing and I lost my s*** one day and told him it’s my child as well and it’s 50/50 and if he does it he needs to go ...

Oh my gosh. She needs to get out!!! Does she want to leave? Is she frightened? There are so many red flags and especially once she marries him and he gets a PCS overseas! I hope she leaves him ?

Damn, I was hoping she was at the navy base near me. What’s her reasoning for staying?

If she’s still with him after that whole debacle, I’m not sure there’s much you can do to convince her.

There’s nothing I can really do besides just be here for her and her support system. I honestly don’t think things would get better. And I hope she’s not one to think he will change once the baby is here.

She always been the type to be open and voice her opinions and thoughts and I know she’s scared to do that with him just to avoid an argument. ?

I don’t think she wants to leave because she’s told me that he’s a “good man and he’s trying”. She feels that since he’s the sole provider she doesn’t feel the need to stand up for herself. This relationship is 100% opposite than who and how she is.

If he is going to make her go back to work then will she find her voice since she will be contributing to the bills, household, etc? It’s so hard to understand why these men are allowed to be so controlling. Especially if you say your friend is so vocal.

I have no idea ?. I don’t know why she’s not working. She was working for a while. Right now she just sells arbonne. It keeps getting worse and worse with how he is. Eventually I won’t be surprised when he tries to keep her away from family and friends.

She won’t speak to me on the phone around him. As soon as he gets home or if she’s out and sees his car at home she will immediately get off the phone with me.

When she first moved in with him. She was watching a cooking show and he took the remote from her and changed the channel. She said something about it to him and he said that since she doesn’t pay the cable bill that she doesn’t get to decide. Or something similar. It’s been awhile so I don’t remember word for word what he said.
