Cops and no car seat What happens if an officer pulls a person over and a 2-3 yr old isn't in a car…

I've heard of officers actually buying a car seat for the toddler.

I think they'll be ticketed. I wonder if they'd have to wait until someone arrives with a car seat? They made my SIL wait until I arrived with her DL one time and I'd imagine no car seat is more important.

I was wondering because I had called a car in that was full of people and I say about a 2-3 yr olds face was hanging out the window sitting on a mans lap. I mind my own business but couldn't less that one pass.. ??

Depends on the cop. Could be a ticket or even a child endangerment charge. Maybe they'd give a warning.

Oh man this reminds me. The other day I was pumping gas and a car pulled up to a pump and there was a little boy who couldn't have been older than 3 sitting in the front passenger seat with absolutely no car seat or anything. I was so shocked I didn't even think to call the cops. I wish I had, that is so dangerous!

Depends on the cops here. Some are super nice and will go out of there way to help you out. Others will take you straight to the back of their car and have cps or a family member come get the child. We have some ? cops.

My husbands uncle got pulled over with his little girl not in a car seat and the cop sat there and waited for someone to bring him a car seat, watched the uncle install in and buckle his little girl in, then let him go. Not sure if he got a ticket or not.

My mom got a ticket once when we let my day ride on my lap. We were in a camp ground and thought it was okay since we were going like 50 feet.

It's super dangerous! What bothered me was they pulled into a store while they passed another same store a mile before that. So my guess was that they weren't just going "up the street". Not that that makes a difference though.

Depends on the area and the cop. Ticket, child endangerment.... In your situation, probably nothing. I did the same thing, calling in on a parent with a bunch of kids, more kids than seats, all too young for no car seat, an infant in the lap of an older sibling. I was told by the dispatcher they'd send a car out to my area but if they aren't seen like that by the cops while driving, they weren't even going to be pulled over.... Sad.
