Grounds for cutting people out
Grounds for cutting people out
Of your life? Usually I'm pretty good at deciding things like this but ds2 had 2 seizures on Friday. One was to the point where he turned blue and quit breathing.

Ugh, that's horrible!
I hope your sweet LO continues to be okay!
At least now you know who your real family that care are.

I'm sorry to hear about your son. Seeing your child having a seizure is by far the worst thing that could happen. You and your family deserve better. How could your own brother not call and check on his nephew? ? One day your son will realize that the only family he need is his parents, siblings, and his dads family. You'll are in my thoughts and prayers ??

Thank you ladies!!
It's heartbreaking but you're right, I know who my real family is and who deserves to be in our lives!

I'd definitely distance myself from them but I totally disagree with the passive aggressive writing things on Facebook about people showing their true colours etc... We shouldn't air our dirty laundry on social media, that's what sites like this are for. All it does is gives people reason to gossip about you. Even the people who like or comment and agree with you, or say nice things to make you feel validated are still going to talk about what you posted afterwards. Stop relying on social media for support, if you want their support just call them!

I wouldn't make any decisions in this moment, personally. Focus on your son and your immediate family for now. Don't let them affect you and try to forget about all of that.
When you're in a better place and can think through what's best for you and your family with clarity, then you can make the decision to cut them out or not. It doesn't have to be done today or tomorrow.

@expantant, They're family. I shouldn't have to call them to get their support. If something were to ever happen to them that would land them in the hospital, I would be the first person to call as soon as I saw something or heard of it. Even still after what they did.
I'm not airing out my dirty laundry on fb. It was only 1 sentence lol. That post could have been for anyone or just how I felt at that moment.
Family is supposed to be there for one another, exactly the opposite of what they did and how it made dh and I feel.
They know they're wrong! And I'm not going to let you or anyone else tell me I should feel any type of shame for how I feel in my sons situation.

Aww I'm sorry :( there is no way in hell I could call everyone up. Plus let's be real.. who answers their phone anymore right on time? No one I know ? I've contacted people before and nothing. Post on fb.. oh magic there they are liking my post. But still no text or call. It's sad really?
deleted-user·
I know.. it really is. Wish it wasn't that way. ?

So sorry Lovelie ?

Just on the flip side, I'd probably be annoyed that I found out on Facebook that my nephew had a life threatening medical emergency and my sister couldn't take a moment to call but managed to still post to Facebook. And then when I think, well if that's how she'd rather handle it so I respond to her chosen means of communication but instead of getting info, she just decides to post some passive aggressive status... I'd really be over HER at that point.
deleted-user·
What the hell are you talking about? In my post it says I don't have his number! ?
He refuses to give it to me even though I've asked him plenty of times. Maybe you can read again...
deleted-user·
I posted on fb after we already came home.
I posted on my ig (that my brother commented on) on Friday... I did dm him but he read it and never responded to it. And that was before I even posted the picture of my son.
So who REALLY should be annoyed here in this situation?? Pls inform me, pp.
Also he wouldn't know anything about my status on fb because he doesn't have fb..
deleted-user·
Hey we're not attacking you... I said that I would also distance myself from family who I felt didn't care for me.
The Facebook thing is just my opinion, I think posting snide comments, complaining or airing dirty laundry on public social media is simply poor form and shows a lack of maturity.
I'm an employer and the first thing I do after reading a resume is a social media search and things like that put people straight in the 'no' pile.

I don't think it really matters how everyone found out about your sons emergency, it matters how they respond once they know. Youre not obligated to call around to family and tell them the situation, especially if you don't even have their number. If anyone were seriously angry they didn't get a personal phone call, they're petty and missing the bigger picture. I'm so sorry about your son and the way your family made you feel! I hope he makes a full recovery!
deleted-user·
It doesn't matter how they found out.. But op made clear her brother won't give his number to her.
If I found out through social media a family member was ill, especially a child, the last thing I would b is angry for not finding out first hand. My main concern and worry would b are they ok...
Op my husband felt exactly the same way about his mum when my son was in hospital. She came and visited but just didn't make any real effort to find out how he was etc, and tht doesn't bother me much but it does my oh.
I live by whoever is ok with me I'll be ok with them. Make and effort and I'll make an effort bk, act shady and like u dnt give a crap.. I won't be chasing anyone.
I know who I can rely on 100%.
It's such a shame families can't see the damage they cause. I would just take comfort from knowing u have ur in laws as a support system ❤️ xx

Princess, that's the thing! They didn't find out through social media. My aunt had both called them on Friday night once we got to our room in the pediatric wing. She had talked with my uncle and let him know the room number just in case he wanted to come visit. She called my cousin to inform her what happened and of course she didn't answer like always so she left her a voicemail.
My brother is nonchalant mad at me because I no longer have a relationship with his dad. But that that never stopped me from messaging him on ig to let him know that I'm here for him. About a month ago, he was supposed to come eat dinner at my house so he could come visit my boys. He said he was on his way but never showed and never told me he wasn't coming. Instead he was posting pics of him and gf at the mall. He let my oldest down and it hurt his little feelings.
Pp, sorry I was tired and upset ? last night. Dh and I own 2 businesses and that's what we do to. If anyone were to search on our social media, all they would see are photos of my boys. Or profile pics. Everything is set on strict. I understand where people are saying "if I found out online about an emergency" but that's not the case. They knew. My aunt had let them know.
My family is stuck up... they won't even be friends with you unless you drive the nicest cars or have an in-ground pool in your backyard. That's just how they are but I would've never thought they would treat family like this when they need love. They're not nice people! My uncle will take jabs at you if you don't have the nicest phone and he's the type "I'm right and you're wrong".
My cousins are only Sunday angels. They claim they're good people but if you truly know them like my other family members they aren't humble and brag about everything they own.
Dh and I have money now but we are the type of people to live below our means and be grateful for what we have. We never ask our families for anything. They treat us like this because we don't own Cadillacs and a Mercedes and mostly because dh is muslim. They like to post memes online about Muslims and incorporate that christians are the higher ones.
Them giving me call or shooting me text just to let me know that they're there if we need anything would be out of their character and it really is just a decent thing to do. I would never treat someone like that or ignore it.
Family is supposed to be love. And it's sad that I don't get that from mine. I have dh family to make up for it.

? They're awful. I personally wouldn't cut really close family members off (like brothers) but aunt and uncles I'd keep a huge distance from.
More importantly, how's your son doing?
deleted-user·
Lulu, he's doing much better! It was horrible seeing him like that and strapped down with wires everywhere ?
He's his happy little self again ❤️?
Thank you for asking!!! ❤️
deleted-user·
Aw, I'm so happy to hear ❤️
Inshallah that's the end of that ?
deleted-user·
I wouldn't necessarily distance myself from them but I'd stop making an effort to reach out. Whenever something happens I don't even put it on Facebook. Only those family members and friends who I talk to on a regular basis knows what happens. I talk to my mom and sister pretty much daily. SO's family barely ever call. When something happens I do not call them. If they care to know how their grandson and nephew is doing they know our number.
