What would y'all do? I am kind of upset about this. So I wanted to have my boyfriend's family and maybe part of my family get together this weekend since my birthday is on Tuesday May 22. Well then my boyfriends brother mentioned they were going to have a cookout for his and his son's birthday so I offered to just do it for all of us. I figured I got enough food for everyone and we all wanted a cookout, all they really needed to do is show up and bring some games or whatever they wanted to... And this is the response I got from them

@redheaded_inkednurse the worst part is that I was referring to us adults not needing gifts cuz were adults and I guess I should have specified and I figured if the wanted a special cake for thier son then they could get it, I was just doing something simple and now I don't even want to do anything thanks to their comments

Honestly to me, I'd appreciate the offer, but at the same time maybe you worded it wrong. I kind of get where he is coming from to be honest.. a plain cake would make any child happy. I've always done plain cakes except his 1st birthday. And I don't ever expect anyone to bring my child gifts, he has enough toys. If anything, sometimes I ask for clothes, then we get him a couple toys. 🤷
