What would you choose?
So a little background - I’m 37 weeks pregnant. 3 cm dilated 90% effaced and stationed at a -1. My first pregnancy I was induced at 40+5 but my doctor told me I probably won’t make it that far this time.
My doctor just told me today that he will be on vacation from May 29 - June 13.
The doctor who will be covering his deliveries is someone who I know personally and do not want to deliver me. She is my ex’s aunt and was seriously evil towards me while we were dating. I really do not want her in my hoo-ha!!!
He asked the other doctor in his practice if she can deliver me and she said she can but I would need to be induced on May 30 or 31 (39+2 and 39+3). He seemed fine with an induction.
I have two stretch and sweeps scheduled for next week and I’m hoping those will just kick me into gear and I can deliver before he leaves for vacation. That is my first preference.
The other scenarios are let Dr. Evil Aunt deliver me or go in for an induction on either the 30/31 with the other doctor.
I really wanted to avoid an induction this time but I know how uncomfortable I will be with Dr. Evil Aunt.

No option to induce on 27th or 28th with your doctor? I'd say no to evil aunt!

@masseymomma16, sadly, no. My hospital doesn’t allow elective inductions before 39 weeks. On the 28th I will be 38+9. Seriously the worst timing EVER.

@mamabird228, I don’t either. I really wanted to avoid an induction and still do. At this point it’s probably just going to be luck of the draw. If I don’t deliver before his vacation starts or on the 30/31 then I will be stuck with the aunt.
The other option is to decline a doctor and let a medical student deliver me with the nurses. I think I would rather that than having her up in my business.

I don’t agree with an induction without a medical reason. I would not put my baby at risk for 10 minutes worth of seeing a doctor.

No to induction. I know the aunt didn’t like you or whatever but she should put everything aside and be a professional.

Then no induction with evil aunt! IF you think she can be professional about it. I'd definitely ask to speak with her beforehand. Hopefully the sweeps will get labor started before the 29th!

@michelletw, I'd worry if she can be professional or not if she was childish before. If anything little thing went wrong I'd be skeptical of her.

A medical student or a resident? I'd definitely let a resident deliver my baby but not a med student.

I was fine with nurses delivering my baby. It was a very busy night when I went in and 2 doctors on call were in csections, one was delivering another and I was ready to go. The nurse was like “well 😬” and I said you do more than they do anyways, I’m fine! 😂😂 the doctor made it in at the last second and was out in 5 minutes. I couldn’t even tell you if it was a man/woman or what they looked like.

@wafflespancakes, med student!! Crazy, right? It’s a teaching hospital and they only take students that are going into an OB residency. There are some residents that work there but it is up in the air on if there will be one to deliver you.

@masseymomma16, I’m pretty positive she wouldn’t be professional about it. The last convo she had with me she was telling me how much of a joke my religion is (I’m Christian and she’s Catholic) ?! 🧐🧐
She is seriously psycho and 90% of the reason I dumped my ex lol.

@babieswomacks, I'd get those sweeps and add some walking, yoga ball and dance sesh to induce labor!

Welp, the choice was made for me.
Tested positive for GBS. With my history of short labor (last one was 5 hours) they want to make sure I get a full dosage of antibiotics before delivery. Scheduled an induction for next week. Really not what I wanted but I guess it’s better to be safe than sorry 😞
