Have any of yalls babys got the silver nitrate thing done to their belly button? Both my older kids have. And I think my newborn needs it. How did yalls babys look after the umbilical cord came off? Hers looks like it wants to come off. Its bleeding a tiny bit and it looks I guess you can say open underneath it still. Like it's not dried up. She turned a week old yesterday. Is it too soon to come off??

@d0iinjusfiin3, that still looks okay, unless you want to keep baby naked, it is going to rub. Just keep it clean, and try and let baby just lay in a diaper with no clothes on to try to urge it to dry.
@kaym @mrscecco316 now it has some bleeding ☹ I cant keep the pamper from rubbing it. I keep folding it but it's not helping.

Yes that looks okay, just make sure it stays dry and clean. It will heal and look normal.
@d0iinjusfiin3, no you can give her a bath, just don't completely submerge her belly in the water, and if it happens to get a little wet, take a q-tip and just dry it. That's what my daughters pediatrician said

Yeah hers looked like it was only coming off at at the bottom too, it had this clear/yellowish liquid, and it would bleed a little; and then I picked her up, and put her against me, and it fell off. Give it some time, you might be surprised.
My baby’s came off at 9days old. It left some wet bloody gunky stuff in her belly button but it dried out within a few days. I wish I’d taken a pic!
@mrscecco316 but this same thing happened to both my sons and they put silver nitrate on the stump to dry it up. But dang 3 times in a row. I was hoping hers will come off normal ☹
@mrscecco316 aww shes so cute. But wow 7 weeks? I think my babys pamper keeps rubbing on it I keep folding the pamper. But thats were it's coming off at. On the bottom I'll try to get a pic when she wakes up again. It looks yellow. It's not pus. It's the cord not dried up.
@mrscecco316 I wiped around it with an alcohol wipe. But not the inside. I hope it dries up soon. I feel like it hurts her but I'm reading it doesn't.
