Has anybody started their leave sooner than they said ? Because at this point it wouldn’t do me or my job any good by having me there
@cali-girl09 FMLA is family medical leave act. It just guarantees your job for up to a year when you have to take off work for medical reasons. Your dr will fill out the paperwork saying how long u need to be out under FMLA. I got 8 weeks for maternity leave plus the 4 extra weeks from the "bonding time" that was offered.
@kira18 soo how does fnla work because ima have to ask for this when i have my LO
@dangthatsjustinsmama no nothing medically just because my job wouldnt comply with the light duty note and i was getting a little bit weak here and there
If you're going out on FMLA you can also ask for the "new mother bonding time" (I think that's what it's called). It gives you 4 more weeks out. I didn't know about it. The lady who filed my claim told me about it and asked if I wanted it
@mumstasin, I agree. I was just thinking who’s going to take care of him when it’s time for me to work again 🙄 I don’t trust anyone
@dangthatsjustinsmama, it should be at least a year in my opinion. All the other countries are doing it. Babies need us for sure the most the first year
@cali-girl09, did you have anything medically causing that or they just decided?
Me i went wayyyy sooner i was planning at 37 weeks and my doctor ended up doing my papers for disability when i was 30weeks
Here we get 12-18 mths depending if you take your leave so many people start their leave a few mths before they give birth
I meant the disability pay. You get that right? But yeah if you leave early you go back earlier.
@mumstasin, I know ! This system is so stupid. There should be 6 weeks after they’re born regardless of what happened during the pregnancy
You can go when you know your tired. The only thing that sucks is that from that day the 6 weeks start counting. And if you give birth until 40 weeks that means you only spend 2 weeks with a newborn
@kambam Well there weren’t any benefits lol I just get to keep my job. Walmart barely has full time people. I’ll call tomorrow and see what happens
Lmao that's unfortunate. Yeah mine said 36w. You can still leave I think? Just can't claim the benefit until 36
@kambam, is that what you filled out on your papers? Because I was full of energy when I did it so I said 38 weeks 🙄 but ehhh
@kira18 thanks im going to talk to my doctor about that next month when i have him
