I had mine out 6 years ago. They did it laparoscopically. It wasn’t so bad I really didn’t like coming out from anesthesia because it made me really nauseas and made me throw up but I get that from my dad. It was painful for the first week and then it started getting better. Just more exhausting than anything else. Good luck! Im sure it’ll go fine.

There was a post about this not too long ago. If you look under my comments, you can read the post.

Some things that I didn't realize about the surgery:
-they put an intubation tube down your throat. I had a c-section a year before my gallbladder removal, and that was my only prior experience with surgery, and way different
-the pain meds & anesthesia meds can make you feel pretty horrible afterwards. I was puking sick from mine the whole day
-removal can seriously change how you digest things and impact your bowels! Because the gallbladder's job is to work with the liver in breaking down fats and the like, once you don't have that, things seem to go haywire! Fatty foods in particular will go right through you since the mechanism for helping to break down those fats is no longer in place. It is different for everyone, so you will learn what food triggers your intestinal issues aka diarrhea.
-something that happened for me was weight gain. I had lost most of my baby weight, but after removal it all went back on 😭 I think this is due to the way my body processes food now that I don't have the gallbladder.

Hope this helps! Recovery is not horrible, just take it easy 👍

I had my gallbladder out 3 days before Christmas in 2014. Mine wasn’t scheduled, I was in excruciating pain and went to the ER. However, I had mine done by laparoscopic surgery. They made 4 small incisions, and I had no stitches just surgical glue. My incisions are a little more noticeable as they just reused the ones from my appendix being removed when I was 18. The recovery wasn’t terrible, but I advise not to bend over much. I was on a 20 pound weight restriction for 2 weeks after my surgery so I didn’t cause a hernia. The worst part was the air leaving my body. It hurt worse then anything else. I only used a few of my Percocets I actually barely used anything. It wasn’t a horrible healing process. You’ll be fine! Good luck!!
