I think babies sucking their thumbs is the cutest thing ever. Neither of my kids are thumb suckers but I sucked my thumb for a lot longer then I’d like to admit.
I sucked my thumb til I was 4 and it was an all out war with everyone trying to get me to stop. When I was 16 I got braces as my teeth were ruined and the roof of my mouth was the shape of my thumb. It cost $12,000. Using it for soothing for a short while should be fine but I wouldn't let him make it a habit for too long it will be expensive to fix 😣
Would def try and help him not get used to it.. my mom sucked her thumb and her teeth were permanently messed & my niece is 11 and still sucks her thumb in her sleep without realizing it and would suck it all the time until she was like 9. Her teeth are really messed up because of it, I made a point to make my kids use pacifier when I saw them with their thumb out of fear because I knew I could take paci away when they got old enough, thumb not so much lol. I thought spending $7500 on my sons braces was bad my nieces quote was nearing $15,000 and will take 4-5 years to fix

My daughter is almost 2 and a half an still sucking her fingers 😩it’s good while they’re young but breaking the habit is a nightmare.
