Ladies bear with me because this is probably made me sound like a bad mom. My dd is a little over 6 months old and ive never left her. Not once. I know alot of moms never leave their kids and i applaud them. The longest I've gone without her is a 5 minute shower before dad brings her to me crying. Shes a very fussy baby and doesn't do well with others. Lately ive been mentally and physically drained and i just want to get out of the house alone. Even if its just to go pump gas. I tried explaining it to my husband but he doesn't understand because im her mommy. Don't get me wrong, i love her more than life itself and being with her is such a blessing, but i just want a drive by myself. I feel awful for even thinking this way, what can i do 😭

Girl. We are together. I told dh, just let me go to Walmart just to walk around. Alone.

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and it does pass! I’m sorry you’re going through this and it’s hard sometimes when our husbands don’t understand.

I hope it gets better for you.

@magsb18 i hope it gets better for you also! We love our kids so much, but i feel like they dont understand because they get to leave everyday. It just makes me sad that he thinks its so unnatural for me to want to leave for even a couple minutes.

No sometimes we absolutely need a break for our sanity. He gets a break when he goes to work, does he not? I mean I haven’t been totally alone since I had my second son other than being in the shower so I do know how you feel.

Thank you ladies, it makes me feel better to know others do to. How old were your babies when you left them? He also thinks 6 months is entirely to young

I’ve left both my kids much younger than that for short periods of time.

I left both my kids younger then 6 months, like 2 months old, so we could go out to dinner. Left dd at 10 months for a whole weekend to go to a music festival. They are both fine and weren't traumatized. Totally normal to need/want a break.

You cannot be with your child 24/7. It's a highly unrealistic standard to set for yourself now and in the future.

Take some time off momma! Kiddo needs to learn that mom can't always be present.

I highly suggest looking into childcare for two days a week! Especially since she will be mobile soon and can interact with other children.

Being without you for a few minutes or hours isn’t going to matter at all in the scheme of her life. You haven’t abandoned her or dumped her somewhere she wouldn’t get loved . She’s with someone who loves her and you are entitled to have a little “me” time . You aren’t being a bad mom .

My first daughter was a very fussy baby and attached to me also. It was exhausting and still is (she is almost 3). I rarely ever had time alone or even time away from her until I had my second daughter. At that point, I realized that it was absolutely necessary for myself, my sanity and for my marriage to have family watch them or hire a babysitter once or twice a month. I love them with everything I have but I can’t be a good mom to them if I am not good to myself. As moms, we deserve a night out. Whether we go out with friends, a date with our SO, or just sitting in a bookstore for the peace and quiet it can make a huge difference. Although I completely understand your feeling of guilt, try to enjoy yourself. Treat yourself!

DD had colic and reflux and cried A LOT. As a ftm... well... who am I kidding, even if it’s your 8th kid... a fussy baby is EXHAUSTING. She was like 2 months old when I let my mom keep her overnight. Of course just for bedtime so I could get a solid 8 hrs and was right back to pick her up. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think I’m a bad mom at all and my daughter is obsessed with me still lol can your husband imagine working his job 24 hours a day and only getting time to sleep... and that sleep being broken up cause you gotta put in more work ??? Being a mother is a JOB, and a hard one. Give yourself a break mama! ❤️

Don't feel bad, everyone needs a little time to themself, that doesn't make them a bad person and it doesn't make you a bad mother. You still have to take care of yourself, especially mentally, to make sure you are giving your baby the best you possible.

I thinks it’s sad that your husband has completely unrealistic standards. Does he not want to spend time with his child? Like damn. OP I’m actually kind of angry for you that he would make you feel like you’re a bad mom for wanting to go alone to the store. Or to get gas or take a shower even. What do you think moms do when they work full time and have to leave their babies after 6-12 weeks? Tell him he needs to man up and be a fucking dad. He is more than capable of comforting her when she gets fussy. For you’re mental health I’d suggest you do something small for yourself every day. Take a shower/bath. Run to the store. Go for a walk etc. best wishes darlin.

Tell him to be a dad. As if he hasn't even spent any time with her just by himself. It's ok for you to get some time for yourself. Completly normal, don't beat yourself up

Hey I’ve been there and am still there some days. My youngest was a very tough baby and now he’s a very tough 3 year old. But he sounds just like your baby. Wouldn’t let anyone hope him but me or dad. It was very tough. He got some independence but now he reverting back to wanting only me. And I feel so bad for my 5 year old because he gets pushed aside because his brother acts up. I’m so sorry just know you’re not alone!!

Honestly I get the impression that your husband is inadvertently guilting you because he is terrified of watching the baby himself for longer then 5 minutes, especially since you said he always brings her back crying. It's more then reasonable to take some time by yourself, where he is watching the baby, and the more he has to do it the less terrified he will be
