How old was your baby when they got back to their birth weight?

My Lo will be 4 weeks on Wednesday and at her 3 week appointment she was still losing weight. She went from 9lbs. To 8lbs. 7oz. At 3 weeks. She has another appointment tomorrow to see if she's gained any back yet.

I'm just wondering what they will do if she still hasn't gained weight.

B would spit up most of his bottle very shortly after eating, he’d scream and arch his back. He would also throw up in his sleep. A lot of times when sleeping or awake, he would spit up clear liquid and make a horrible face, I guess from it tasting like stomach acid. He slept in the rock in play because I was so scared he’d choke while he was asleep, plus he wouldn’t sleep laying down flat on his back at all. I believe he started on Nexium and it worked for awhile and then he went to Prilosec. But by the time he was 6 Months, he’d outgrown it and didn’t take meds anymore.

@mommytotheo ok I'll talk to her Dr tomorrow. It only happens like once or twice a day and she doesn't really cry unless she's hungry. It wouldn't hurt to ask though so thank you!

@blueismycolor @mommytotheo how did y'all know it was reflux?

Some times she'll throw up at least half her bottle but I thought it was just when she over eats.

My ds was 6.5 lbs at birth and was actually losing weight because he had reflux and was spitting everything up. It took him about 3 weeks to get back up to his birth weight and was gaining really slowly until he started reflux meds and we switched his formula.

All my other babies were back up by their 1 week checkup so I'm worried that something's wrong but I guess I'll just have to see what her dr recommends tomorrow. She just looks like she's still losing weight but hopefully that's just me being paranoid.

All 3 of my kids were past their birth weight by their 3 day check up (my hospital does 3 day checkups lol I’ve never heard of it anywhere else not even other hospitals in same city). My son was at his birth weight when we left the hospital.... that being said both my daughters were tiny (and still are) they only weighed 19 lbs at 1... they are 6 & 4 and weigh 40 lbs & 37 lbs and have always been very healthy, I wouldn’t stress too much.

We struggled so badly with my daughter’s weight during her first year. At her first year check up, she was in the 7th percentile for weight (75th for height) and I was devastated. I thought I was doing something wrong. She was ebf but was also eating solids by 1 year old, so I wasn’t sure why she wasn’t gaining once she stated eating solids. She was thriving and developing very well though, so the doctor was not overly concerned. Now I swear she eats about as much as her two older brothers combined, and she has definitely packed on a few pounds in the last few months! She doesn’t have an appointment until the first week of June, but I’m willing to bet that she has jumped up in percentile drastically just in those few months. I thought I was failing with her though and it was so heartbreaking, but her doctor reassured me that she was doing well and that I shouldn’t worry at the time. Now she’s a good scavenger haha. It just took longer than most kids for her to catch up. Hang in there! ❤️

@tricia.scrum23, she may be cluster feeding too, so she’ll need to eat a little more often

We do both usually I breastfeed first for about 15 minutes on each side and then if she's still hungry (usually she is) I make her a 3 oz bottle.

I went through the same. They may suggest feeding more often, every two hours. And/or formula supplement

My son doubled his birthweight at his one week appointment. Are you breastfeeding or formula?
