Why does farming have to hurt so much?! My back and shoulders hurt from lifting gates into place. My neck hurts from putting a belt on the baler. My hips, knees and ankles hurt from all the walking and standing. Plus just to round it all out my sinuses and chest hurt from my seasonal allergies and the cough they have caused.
All we worked on today was finishing the repairs on the round baler and preparing for our new bull to be delivered. Then redoing our preparation for the bull after dark when a cow decided to flip out that she was in heat, that lead to the brand new (only 4 hours on our farm) bull having to be moved from the big corral near the cows’ water to inside the barn,
because he was trying to break a fence, gate and the cow water to get to the noisy cow!
At least inside he can’t hear them and there is little to hurt him. I hope he likes the ball I gave him. Our last bull liked to kick rubber balls so I got the new bull a new ball.
I feel like the work you can feel in all your muscles and joints is usually the most rewarding:) every time I'm like "ugh, I don't want to do this" I try to think about how my ancestors did a thousand times more than I did. For example I was dreading the idea of putting up some fencing until I remembered at least I'm not gathering sticks and lashing them together with plant fibers
Props to you lady! I have extended family members that farm and it is hard work. Take pride in a job well done!
