So my 14 month has been waking up with a dry diaper in the mornings. This morning I sat her on the potty and she stood back up and peed some. I sat her back down and she got some in but then stopped and ran away. She squatted a few feet away and then peed on the floor. Am I rushing her? How do I know if she’s ready or not? Is holding her pee a sign she’s ready?

At 14 months I wouldnt stress over it. Sounds like she may not be quite ready but you can keep encouraging the potty for fun and when she is ready it will just happen. (Sorry typos 🙄)

@sparklingjewels, thanks. I’ve been letting her just play with the potty. She loves to just flush it. I just wanted to try it since she held it all night again.

I started my son at 14 months too. He was potty trained by 16 months. And at night by 18 months

@mamabird228, you just have to stay consistent with the day time. 15 min intervals of taking them to the potty and when they do make a big deal. Jump up and down, clap your hands, shout hooray!!!! And get really excited. Never bribe them lol. And then once they start being able to hold it longer, go for 30 min, but still ask at 15. Then go for 45, then an hour. For a week consistently. No pull ups either because they still think they’re in a diaper. Once my son had dry diapers all night I put him in underwear. I take him potty right before bed and as soon as he wakes up. And just remember if they have an accident, don’t get upset, just say Awh, almost! And change them while saying it’s ok, you tried really hard to make it to the potty!

@ndnprincess7, and @mamabird228, I have that miniature potty that flushes. She just likes to flush it and she’ll sit on it for a bit but just stands up and runs away after about a minute. How do you keep the baby on the potty to go?

@southerngirl.89, I usually put him on the big potty at first or if I’m going I’ll sit down and ask if he wants to pee with mama. And he usually did, he always follows me into the bathroom so I figured he might as well do something 😂
