Anyone dye hair while in early pregnancy?
I’ve heard though that’s its best to stay away from bleach, or at least don’t bleach you’re roots and use it the furthest away from your scalp that you can because it contains ammonia and other harsh chemicals. But yes pregnant people dye they’re hair all the time
Also I just realized I did dyi my hair and I just found out I'm 9 weeks pregnant. So far baby is okay
They say to wait until you're out of your first trimester to dye your hair but I guess if you're going to do it make sure you're in a well-ventilated area and don't breathe in too much fumes.
I did with my first pregnancy at 9 weeks with a manic panic dye and then again at 20+ weeks, and 38 weeks. I used ammonia free dye and made sure the area was well ventilated.
The only reason they say to be careful while coloring your hair is because with your hormones different, the chemicals in the lighteners and colors could affect your skin differently - it may burn or itch or you may have a different reaction than you normally do. Also, make sure it’s an open room with good ventilation. But as long as you’re not cooped up in a tiny little room it’s fine. Just don’t be purposely smelling the bowl of color. Lol
If you’ve noticed your skin being more sensitive to products or chemicals since you’ve become pregnant, ask your stylist to test the product on you 48 hours before your appointment. They will put a small spot of product behind your ear and behind your elbow. If you react to it within 48 hours don’t make an appointment, if you have no reaction then it is highly unlikely to bother you when you get your hair done.
Also, if the fumes bother you you can wear a face mask :) just get one of the most that loop around your ears. Your stylist won’t mind and it won’t affect the color process any.
I partially completely cosmetology school before I got pregnant, sick, and so weak from not being able to keep anything down that I couldn’t stay on my feet all day. Lol I hope to go back once the baby gets here! ❤️
