hi ladies 👋🏻 I am a BBer but new to this group. My son took 11 cycles TTC and here we are passing the one year mark TTC #2. We can now get our referral to the fertility clinic. I just wondered what to expect for the first month, is it realistic that we will be able to try this month or will it be filled with blood work and ultrasounds only? I have a feeling it might just be clomid that I need as I have irregular cycles/late ovulation. Looking for your wisdom and experience!! Thanks ladies! 🤗
@kitkatcreek, oh man! Brutal! Hopefully you guys make it happen on your own before then! 😩
@sjdares, I came home from work last night to a voicemail! Now I just need to book my first appointment!! Yayyyyy finally progress!
@kitkatcreek, the waiting is the worst! So great that you have a proactive GP! Mine wouldn’t do a thing! Hoping you hear from them soon!!!
@mrscg, I have already been waiting over a month. In the meantime my GP has done an ultrasound and bloodwork (to rule out PCOS, diabetes, thyroid etc). I have a heart-shaped uterus (slightly) and some cysts but nothing that is extreme as of yet. My GP is trying to get me into an OBGYN that specializes in reproductive endocrinology while I wait for the fertility clinic to get me in. I hate this waiting SO SO SO much!!!
Hopefully your clinic is quick. I was 4 months between being referred and our first appointment. It is a waiting game and very frustrating. Good luck!
@kitkatcreek, hahaha seriously! We are in Alberta though and where our clinic shut down there is only one other in Edmonton so I think they are dealing with a huge amount of new patients.
@sjdares 3 months ! Ahhh. I hope they're quick. Love our (sloooow) healthcare here.
@kitkatcreek, if today is cd2 you’ll be doing bloodwork and ultrasounds next cycle I’d say. If they’re that quick. I just had to switch clinics as ours shut down and it is 3 months wait for our initial appointment. They did order our bloodwork to be completed prior to the appointment though so hopefully yours will do the same!
I'm going to call Monday morning to get the referral, hopefully it won't take too long because today is CD2. I don't ovulate until CD20-28 so hopefully time is on my side.
Thank you @sjdares @tba09 . my GP already is aware that this would be our 1yr mark so all I have to do is call her office to send the referral to the clinic. In a way, I am relieved that specialists will be taking over from here because they know what to do after tests etc and can probably quickly identify what we need to do next! I only turn 30 this year so I still have some time before I need to panic, I just don't want a huge age gap for my son ideally. -Kat
I think if you need fertility help they won’t be able to start anything this cycle besides all the test to monitor your cycle and figure out what help will you need . You should start your check up on cd2-cd3 then they will continue monitoring you throughout your cycle to check when you ovulate , if you ovulate on your own and what’s your thickness during ovulation . Also there will a lot of test including a sperm analysis for your husband there might be more than one analysis for him also . Be prepared that it might take more than one round of fertility treatment to get a positive result . I know it’s very difficult to be patient in this situation . I was there . But it’s best to smile and to relax and wait than to pressure your yourself and stress your body
Oh no! Sorry you guys are having a difficult time! When is your appointment kitkat?
The bloodwork and ultrasounds they schedule are usually based on your cycle day (ie: cd3) so I wouldn’t worry about not trying right now. You’ll know you aren’t pregnant when you hit cd1 and if you don’t get a cd1 then yay! 😊
Hey! How are things?! Your appt must be coming up?
