Thinking about “potty training” my son but don’t want to frustrate him and make him hate the potty before it’s even time to really start. He’s 9 months old and diaper changes have been an absolute nightmare the last week so I bought a potty for him to sit on every time I go so that he sees what it’s for. I obviously know he’s not actually ready and I’m not going to force him out of diapers at 9 months but does this seem like a good idea? I’m worried that he might end up hating the potty but he also hates his diapers so I’m at a loss 🤷🏼♀️

I agree it is very early! 18 months is best. But it's a good time to take them into the bathroom when u go and tell them ur going "potty" And make that into a routine to where when he's old enough and has seen u do it so much he'll start to pick it up.

I mean id wait at least until he’s walking to even have him sit on the little potty you got him... and in general i wouldn’t expect a 9 month old to watch what I’m doing and understand I’m peeing in the potty..
Most babies go through not liking diapers. My son luckily never was one to take his diaper off but diaper changes were a wrestling match.

Oh gotcha! Lol okay! & I never thought about that, I haven't had an issue with diapers yet my son is 15 months. He isn't taking off his diaper but he will fight a diaper change 🙄

@meggo.eggo, he already is walking which is another reason I didn’t see it being a big issue. He doesn’t take his diapers off but he hates having them on and won’t pee if I take it off and just let him walk around. But like I said I wouldn’t be actually potty training him just getting him started on seeing me use the potty

@page.gregg.33, that’s what I was thinking, just have him see me going and then when it is time to actually potty train him he’ll have somewhat of an idea what he’s doing. He just hates having diapers on

I think its a good idea. It's never too early to learn and i know you don't expect him to actually use the potty. You're just introducing it to him and that's fine
