So I went to the doctor today and they said my baby had an unusually large head but didn't tell me what that meant.. I'm 34 weeks and my baby's head is measuring 38 weeks..

I had an ultrasound at 36 weeks to check amniotic fluid & size of baby. I was told babe was 6lbs 15oz, belly at 37 weeks, & head at 39 weeks, but to take the head measurement with a grain of salt because once the head is engaged, the measurement isn't 100% accurate. Here's to hoping! 🤞

@charitylear, I wouldn’t worry! Some babies just have big noggins. (Like mine!) Like I said, If the heart came back totally normal then you probably just have a baby with a large head. But, I’m sure they will monitor it to see if it catches up or what. I’m no professional, and I’m sure it could mean other things. But, for me it was just a question of Down syndrome.

@jennatess Hm.. I've never heard that. I hope that's not it. I'd love him all the same but still lol they said they're going to do an ultrasound weekly to keep an eye on it. But what are they looking for?

They said the same thing to me! They told me that we could do additional testing for down syndrome, but instead we had them really watch her heart and make sure that her heart was OK. (90% of children with down syndrome have congenital heart defect‘s.) Her heart was fine, so we figured we would just wait until birth. She came out totally fine, but her head, her weight, and her height has been 100 percentile every single visit her whole life. 😂
