My husband loves our daughter in mostly afros. I love her in mostly braids(I love her in afros too) but with afros with her hair texture it's harder to maintain and it gets dry very quickly, also breaks off a lot of hair when I try to comb it. With braids I don't have to do her hair much, it stays moisturized, doesn't break off, and it's easier to maintain when they get taken down. Plus she loves getting her hair done. Surprisingly for a 1yr old.

He likes her in braids too but want her in afros way more now. And I don't feel her having an afro all the time is fit for her hair because of the results.

What should I do? Are their any products I can use to keep her hair moisturized or should I just keep trying to explain the difference and keep braiding her hair? Or do 50/50?

(He's into the African culture but has an Indian blood line, I have an African blood line and according to research braiding hair was more of a ritual, religious type of thing and it was also expressing oneself and their clan, but he thinks they wore afros 90% of the time.. Which is not true.) So it's been a big debate on that and I honestly think that someone who isn't even a girl lol. Or have been in the hair industry, or even at the least know her hair texture and what works and what doesn't works shouldn't have a say so in what I do to our kids hair. Her hair is long for her age and growing healthy and strong.
