Alrighty moms I'm in need of some input! My sons teacher is wanting to hold him back in kindergarten, as "he is a young kindergartener." I need to hear from both sides ones that held back there child and ones that didn't.

If he does struggle academically now and he moves on he will only struggle more as the workload increases and gets harder. I know it is such a hard decision to have your child repeat a grade. I will tell you that the third graders I have retained have done so well the next year which gave them so much confidence moving forward. I would keep an open mind, talk with his teacher about your concerns and make the best decision you can for your son.

@erica217 We went thru all the academic testing to see if he qualified for any assistance and he does not. They said he test in the lower average. They think giving him another year he will retain more information. But I'm not conviced.

How does he do academically? Does he struggle with learning new concepts? I am a teacher and I wouldn’t hold back a student just for immaturity reasons, but if they were immature compared to other children their age and struggled academically then I would recommend holding them back.

PS...your son is adorable!! Love the pose!!
