How far a trip is it? Why won't you be going? I'm confused I need more information.

In my opinion it’s one thing for a short road trip or even a short visit to another state... but out of the country without mom is a WHOLE different story. How old is she?

@whitninicole1_bb i wont go because i have never been out of the country and well i dont know his family in any way. I barely met his sister last week because she barely came to the U.S.

So has his family never met their granddaughter? How long will he be staying over there for?

Well I would NEVER send my child with someone I don't know period.

@whitninicole1_bb he has been here for 16 years but its only been him and his nephew here. So i have never met them till now.

I think if your husband is going to see his family you and your daughter should both go. They have a right to meet her. Just because you've never been out of the country doesn't mean you can't go. I would also want to meet my in laws....

Oh!!!! I thought he was going and wanted his sister to bring her to him. I was confused why you didn't all go as a family! No way in hell would I let any of that nonsense happen. I would tell him maybe all of you could go together sometime but that's the only way it's happening.

Legally, a minor can't leave the country without both parents permission.🤷‍♀️

@walteryvira no he's being very selfish especially if you just met his sister how would you be able to trust her in another country with your daughter. Just because that's his sister you don't know how good she will take care of her not saying that she wouldn't but it's not like you've been around here long enough. Why don't you tell him you will go with her maybe when she's around 1 years old? Tell him you don't want to fight about it. You would feel more comfortable if she was a little older and you could go

@preciouslove i think thats a good idea. I agree she is too young to go out of the country and i guess i was more upset at the fact that he agreed to have her go on her own with out letting me know he was making these decisions

My mother in law lives in Dominican republic and asked to take my son when he was 15 months to her country for a couple months. Ive been there and met her multiple times. But i still laughed and said no freaking way!!! Maybe to them thats not unheard of. But i agree with you 100%

Either you go with or just say she is to young and maybe when she is a teenager she can spend a month during the summer and learn her heritage.

@walteryvira hahahahahaha what a joke! Man these Latino men can act really crazy. My daughter's father is from Colombia and he and his family say the same types of things. Honestly at this point I just laugh and agree because we don't have any money to send our child to another country, and likely won't have that kind of money for years.

I highly suggest avoiding getting a passport for as long as possible... That way if they're trying to plan a trip it will delay it pretty much indefinitely 😉

I definitely don't think you're wrong. Too many bad things could happen, I know he knows his family but you don't. I would never send my daughter to a different country with someone I don't know, especially a baby.

Heck no I wouldn’t be sending my child to another country without me! Especially not a baby... anything could happen. And what if his family is cray cray and tries to keep her? She’s in Honduras so it’s not like you can call the police.

Technically, he has no right to send his daughter out of the country, unless you give him permission, you also have no right to take her out of the country without his permission. Not sure if this applies in all states though. Does she have a passport?

Not saying anything is fishy, but I personally wouldn't go to a foreign country with my baby all by myself to meet my husband's family that I don't know, especially since he would not be taking the trip with me. I'd also not send my baby alone on a trip overseas with an aunt I don't know. Things happen all the time, and I'd drive myself crazy worrying about her until she was back with me.

Also, while your daughter has a right to meet her family, I don't agree that the family has a right to meet your daughter. If they want to meet her, they can go to her. Your in-laws are people you have no relationship with, I'm sure they are wonderful people, but, you still don't know them.

I don't understand why he's upset to be honest, you're just protecting your child, I don't understand why he can't understand that you are uncomfortable with shipping her off with someone who is a stranger to you. How would he feel if you tried to send her off with family members he doesn't know? But aahhh, you've known them your whole life!!

Also, (may be way outta bounds, so feel free to ignore) why can't he leave the country?

@sweetsap88 he is only on a permission here in the U.S. so if he leaves he cant return for 6 months

I’m separated from my ex, we did the whole divorce and parenting plan through court. It is my understanding that without the other parents consent, 1 parent cannot take the child out of the country. If the child is traveling outside of the country without her parents, his sister would need consent from both parents to be able to take her out of the country. Look into it and see what options you have to restrict this trip from happening. I wouldn’t let anyone take my child to travel to another country if I’m not okay with it, I get it’s his family but at the end of the day both parents need to be on board or it’s a no go. I just had to do 2 authorizations for my ex so he can the kids on a cruise.

Honestly they can't take your kid out of the country without permission from you, so I wouldn't argue about it, just never give permission and it will never happen
