Hey! When I went in for my first appointment for infertility, they ordered some blood work and I went back a week later for a transvaginal ultrasound. I did Clomid for two cycles and we took a small break where we were not trying, not preventing. Ended up going on birth control for 6 months because of the pain I was in, and I really needed to get the cysts under control. It really isn’t all that bad! :)

The medication they put you on is really strong. Just be sure to rest as much as you can.

I’m not sure if all fertility clinics are the same but this was my experience. First you will have a consultation and blood work. They test all your hormone levels. Then when you start your next cycle you call and they have you come in on day 2 or 3 and they do a transactional ultrasound and then discuss treatment options based on your specific fertility issue. They also order a semen analysis to make sure everything is good with dh. There are so many different treatment options depending on what the issue is. You don’t necessarily have to go straight to ivf. For me it was not ovulating. I’m resistant to clomid so my dr felt like femara was my best option. I conceived my son while taking 7.5 mg and go back tomorrow to start the process for baby #2.
